 I would have made the 250 mile trip to the Washington Coast with a Beefsteak tomato. The only thing I'm not sure of is, would you have shared this sandwich ????????????  Looks great Craig........................

Lamb Burgers grilled, topped with Feta covered with melted Provolone ! Summer tomatoes sliced, topped with a drizzel of Italian dressing and sliced Mozzarella.

That was my lunch!
 
Dinner was leftover bacon-wrapped chicken, baked balsamic sweet onions, and some cottage cheese.

I went to the Los Angeles County Fair and had a bowl of gumbo from Harold and Belle's.  This is the first time I ever saw the Harold and Belle's truck.  It was great, made with a dark roux and loaded with smoked sausage, large shrimp and chicken wings.
 
I don't need dinner.

I ate very little today so when I arrived home I was scanning the freezer and pantry for something just right...  defrosted and grilled a NY Strip, boiled some Gulf Shrimp and stuffed a baked potato.  Just finishing the Cabernet that went with it.  It's hump day after all.....
 
Two more days - or 20 hours of work in hell - as I count down to the weekend which I'm going to thoroughly enjoy.  Lots of college football, adult beverages and great food.

Tonight I did a steak stir-fry over brown rice. I should remember to change my amounts when I open a new container of spices or herbs...the ginger was a bit overwhelming this time around, but whatever.

Dinner last night was magnificent. lleechef pan fried a couple of small beef filets, then made a Bordelaise sauce by deglazing the pan with a terrific zinfandel, adding finely-diced shallots and mounted the sauce with butter. She then napped the medium rare filets with the sauce and served the beef with crab Imperial and a caprese salad.
 
Dinner tonight will probably be some hot dogs at the high school football game.

I would gladly eat hot dogs the day after being able to have a dinner like that - just the description of the filets made my eyebrows arch and the Mmmmm thing get going.
Tonight we have hot wings on the grill and I'm about to make some shrimp quesadillas with roasted red onions & tomatoes and pepperjack cheese.

I will do my best as I never measure anything.
In a bowl put 1 lb. lump or jumbo lump crabmeat.  To this add 1/2 red pepper, VERY finely diced, 1 T chopped flat-leaf parsley and a small handful of fresh breadcrumbs.  In another bowl combine 1 egg, 1 spoonful of mayo, 1-2 tsp. Old Bay, 2 dashes worcestershire, 2 dashes Tabasco.  Add to the crabmeat and combine very carefully so as not to break up the crabmeat.  Let rest in the refrigerator at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
I use this for crabcakes, shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and the other night I just put some into scallop shells and baked until browned.

Thanks for the recipe, Lisa.  Crab is one of my favorite things.  I'll definitely give your recipe a try, probably in scallop shells... because I have them.
 
We went to a family dinner last night at Lawry's.
 
Started out with the Lawry's Spun Salad:
 

 
And then had my choice of The Lawry Cut served with half and half creamed spinach and creamed corn.
 

 
The Lawry Prime Rib is always served with mashed potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding.  Some at the table opted for a baked potato and other shared braised mushrooms or asparagus served with Hollandaise Sauce.
 
Sharon who has always said that she didn't like prime rib changed her mind last night. 
 
Lawry's just does it right.
 
I love the mixture of thickly whipped cream, mixed with freshly shaved horseradish slathered over mine.
 
It was a wonderful evening of about 30 family members getting together because 2 from Florida were visiting. 
 
When dessert came there was no time for picture taking.  We shared a CC Brown's Hot Fudge Sunday.  It was not picture worthy although by the time I thought about it, it had already been eaten.  The vanilla ice cream was as soft as the whipped cream covering it.  The hot fudge was in a separate little (plastic) pitcher and it was the consistency of Hershey's Syrup.  Not what I remembered, but still quite tasty.
 
I think Lawry's holds the distinction of being the class act restaurant in the  Los Angeles / Beverly Hills area.

It's been a lot of years since I ate at Lawry's, but I sure remember their prime rib. Lucious! That looks wonderful.

Here was dinner tonight.................  Boneless pork ribs, Bratwurst and white rice.

Top sirloin was on sale today for $4.98 lb. - I had two cut 2" thick and put one in the freezer and marinated the other one in Stubb's beef marinade for about 8 hours.  Almost ready to come off the grill now - baked potato, salad and Cabernet waiting on it.

We had a neighborhood street fair today and I ate enough to not really want (or need) dinner.
 
Although, the idea of oatmeal has been running around my head.

I sure agree on the bloody prime rib -- never saw the allure of all that blood and raw meat.  But our local grocery store has it in their deli case for about 12.50 a pound, but on Sunday they have it on their hot bar, where everything is 5.49 per pound.  So that's where I am every Sunday, picking up a couple pounds.  Then home, and a little time in the frying pan, and it is some really good meat.

Exactly, Ann!  No blood on my plate and the meat wasn't as red as it looks in the picture.  It was hardly pink.
 
The Au Jus was wonderful and I loved soaking it up with the Yorkshire Pudding.
 
The meal was divine!

Mr. Hoffman-people obviously didnt "get" that the juice over the prime rib was au jus. Assumed it was a bloody piece of meat. How silly, huh?
