But I gave my Webers away!

It was too cold outside to do any cleaning of the Egg.  (I won't complain)

I cooked some bacon up to saute the onions.  It's in there somewhere.

When we finally got around to making dinner (after probably a few too many Tangerine Wheat beers, but whatever), we did bison burgers with bleu cheese mixed into the meat, topped with bacon. And a bunch of deli salads from Raley's: blue cheese potato salad, seafood salad, crunchy vegetable salad, and antipasto salad. And more of the Kettle Buffalo Bleu chips from lunch.

Ahhh... bacon grease is a fine thing to cook stuff in.

I had to go back and look for the fingerprint.  So funny--I see it!!

Felix - you are having one great time in Lake Tahoe!!  Why on earth I don't go there when it's just 4 hours from here is beyond me.

BBQd Hawaiian burgers today!
Loaded with Jalapeno peppers, salt/pepper, Cayenne pepper, topped with grilled Pineapple slices and a big hunk of melted Monterrey jack and of course all the rest of the usual toppings!

They have jalepenos in Hawaii?

We went to dinner with the family.  #2 niece is going to Mexico for a few months to work on her doctorate and #3 niece is leaving Thursday to go to Europe with her school group for 3 weeks before she leaves to go to Boston U.  This was a goodbye dinner, I guess.  Any excuse to meet and eat.  !!!

We went to a Lebonese restaurant... Surrin in Westwood.   Basically meat, rice and salad with some appetizers of ground this and that served with pita bread.

My favorite appetizer was the kibbeh which was filled with ground lamb and pine nuts.

Last night of vacation, and I forgot to take pictures. We grilled some Aidell's chicken sausages (spicy mango jalapeno and roasted garlic & gruyere cheese), and polished off the deli salads from Raley's. We also drank a few more of the home-brewed blackberry porter we bottled last week.

Tomorrow I get up at stupid o'clock to get on a plane to take me back to reality.

Last night we had chicken saltimbocca, sautéed zucchini with tomatoes and onions, and caprese salad with beautiful tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil from the garden and a delicious olive oil. lleechef does wonderful things with food.

I grilled up some chicken tits...

Cooked with indirect heat after a quick sear...with the hood down, the temperature gauge runs 220° to 250°...just a rub was used for seasoning...

Juicy & tasty...

Turns out when I'm home I'm the one who has to cook. I wasn't into it, so I just did a skillet dinner. Smoked sausage, zucchini, summer squash, mushrooms, onion and garlic. Sauteed in olive oil with some Olde Thompson's Rustic Tuscan seasoning.

I didn't even cook.

Oscar Meyer All Beef Bologna and Kraft American Cheese both on Bimbo's white bread with Grey Poupon.

Accompanying my sandwich was a small bag of puffy Cheetos.

Since when are Cheetos so BIG?

Holy crap........  how ironic is that??  I too had a Bologna sandwich but with Muenster cheese, mayo and Grey Poupon.   I had mine on Jewish Rye and had a big handfull of Limon (?) Lays potato chips!  Tomorrow night I'm expecting to get a big Pepperoni pizza with extra cheese!

What are you going to dip the bread in to?

Passed by the pizza in the freezer and opted for the Marie Callendar's frozen Chicken Pot Pies.

They are a bit salty.

My plan was to dip it in the egg yolks, and then I broke them.  I ended up just putting some cherry butter on it.

Just as good!  I don't think we get cherry butter around here.  Maybe it's only apple.

Mar, I just found the cherry butter for the first time ever at the farmer's market. If you ever see any, buy it! It's now my favourite thing ever.

Today at dinner I totally failed on pictures. We had a huge family party , and there were kids running around and my dad's not doing well and by the time I thought about it the buffet table looked like a tornado hit it. So be it. We had two six-foot Subway subs (one ham, one turkey) with all possible topping options, two kinds of potato salad, fruit salad, my creamy grape salad, pasta salad with black olives and grape tomatoes, peanut butter-white chocolate-cookie bars, and of course cake and ice cream (confetti cake, French vanilla ice cream with caramel, butterscotch, chocolate, and peanut butter topping options).

I'm fat and happy tonight.

Excellent! I really wanted to offer to send you some, but I honestly don't know if I'm going to be able to get back to the good farmer's market again this summer or not. Or if they'd have any if I did...I'd never seen it before, and I've been getting my preserves and honey from the same people for years.

Thanks for even thinking about it.

I bought Amish Cherry Butter and paid way too much for it but that's the way with gift cards.  You end up buying things that can be found elsewhere for less money.

Can't wait to try it with Cheese Blintzes.

I had to look it up, mar. Assuming you bought the three-jar deal from Amazon, that's about right. I paid $6.50 for my one 16-ounce jar. I need cheese blintzes now.

Not remotely resembling cheese blintzes (but I do have a trip to the bakery on my to-do list for this week!), but...Citrus chicken with feta, summer squash-feta casserole, and creamy grape salad.

I want those shrimp!  But I don't have any room.

I had...

Snow crab legs
lobster claws
one frog leg
a thin slab of prime rib
carrots
And many tiny desserts such as...
panna cotta with fresh blue berries
creme brulee
chocolate creme brulee
and some sort of a mango bomb.

I was at the buffet at Pala Casino

I found these southwest red beans at Wegmans, their store brand already in a tomato sauce with chipotle. Generally I would make my own, but I was in the mood for something quick the other night and bought a couple cans, 99 cents each. Much to my surprise, they're really good.
It's too hot to cook up a big meal, so tonight I'm just going to brown some ground beef with onions, and throw a can of those red beans in, and have it with some naan type bread.
They have chana masala garbanzo beans also, I'd like to try them on some cous cous sometime soon.

I got lucky tonight. It's ungodly stupid hot, but I found a couple of pieces of the cheddar-bacon-asparagus strata in my freezer. So...microwave food for dinner! The best part is I frozen them as an experiment, and now I know it works. So next spring I'm going to make two 9x13 pans of it and freeze a bunch of future summer meals.

Greg, it was a two hour drive... Each way. No.

Lisa, I like good frogs legs these were tiny and over breaded

I filled up on the snow crab legs which were extremely meaty and sweet.

I could live on crab. These were almost as good as king crab legs.

Tonight I poached some cod fillets in lemon juice, seasoned with Olde Thompson's Catalina Seafood seasoning and Orange-Lemon-Pepper seasoning, served with leftover summer squash casserole and couscous. It's so stupid hot even that just about killed me.

CajunKing...yup, definitely microwave. I'd be afraid you'd spontaneously combust standing next to a grill. Tomorrow after work I'm planning to make eight different salads to keep on-hand, and I've got some crock pot meals planned. No way am I doing anything to add any heat to my house until the heat index stops being well over 100 every day.

Didn't you go to some at Lake Tahoe or were you not near the NV side of the lake?  Still, it would have been an easy and very beautiful drive.

The casinos are about a 15-minute drive from my friend's house (she's in South Lake), but there were so many other places to eat we never bothered. It's been easily ten years since I've set foot in a casino there, even though I visit annually. I want to be able to go to a casino buffet from my house! We technically have one about 45 minutes away, but the buffets are nowhere near what I've had on the Gulf Coast (which is my only frame of reference for casino buffets).
