llechef, that catfish looks amazing!
Bill, thank you so much for the recipe! Even my mother liked it!

Tonight I baked some fake crab, fake lobster, spinach, and Dreamfield's penne in a light cream-garlic sauce, served with a bag salad (ranch dressing) and some mixed fruit tossed with blackberry-balsamic vinegar and Splenda.

Cilantro is one of those spices you either like or dont like!  We often use it as it compliments so many different foods.  It tastes wonderful on white rice and especially good on Mexican food!
Mar hates the stuff and refuses to eat it but its AWESOME on Mexican food and especially when served in tacos and burritos!
We grow it in our garden so its never in short supply.
Forgot to also mention.........cilantro is a must for making salsa and its also good in scrambled eggs and salads!
As mentioned above......  its either a spice you like or one you dislike!

I will speak to the taste of cilantro. I hate it. It takes over the taste of food, as most people don't know how to use it correctly.Instead of incorporating it, they sprinkle. Wrong! I only enjoyed the taste once, in a very well made fresh salsa, in which it was just a background taste. On the same page, Mar and Felix!

Cilantro haters Unite!

I never thought it tasted like soap.  It just tastes disgusting when fresh.  I can use it sparingly in salsas and soups.  In salsas it gets pickled and when cooked it mellows.

I had something the other day that didn't have cilantro in it, but it must have been cooked in the same pan as some or near it.  Could not eat it.

It's overpowering and that tiny little piece remains in your mouth if you're lucky enough to get some on your bite of food.....  and it somehow gets between your teeth to make it's presence known sometime later for that last taste of the meal.

Y'all are gonna think I'm a freak but I really like cilantro.  It has it's place in Mexican, Cuban and South American cuisines.  I wouldn't want it on everything, but then I wouldn't want basil, rosemary, oregano or any other herb on everything.

I don't think you're crazy, although it's funny for me how often people who like it try to convince those of us who don't we should "just try it" again, because "you'll change your mind". Not gonna happen, any more than I'm gonna "grow out of" my food allergies.

I'm not a big fan of cilantro, but my gripe about it is due to it's over use in many Mexican dishes. A little goes a long way and often too much cilantro overpowers the dish.

We got them at the Market District Giant Eagle in Upper Arlington.  One weekend last August they were roasting whole Hatch chiles outside and selling them in 1 lb. packages.  We came home, seeded and peeled them and I made packages that would be enough for 2 burgers.  I came up with about 10 pkgs.  We decided that would never get us through a whole year so we went back the next weekend for another pound!

My original intent was to heat up something from the freezer. Then I realized how many fresh vegetables I had that were gonna die if I didn't use them, so I defrosted some steak and we ended up with stir-fry. I didn't make rice because I had already made *way* more effort than I planned on. Broccoli, cauliflower, celery, red onion, white onion, red bell pepper.

By the way, this is an amazing sauce! If you can find some, I highly recommend it. I either use it as-is, or sometimes add more teriyaki or soy sauce, but usually as-is. I haven't tried their other sauces, but based on the Spicy Garlic Plus I'm assuming they're equally tasty.

I'd have taken pictures, but lleechef won't show me how to use her camera. No, Campbell's has'nt started making it again.  I found a recipe that is very good.  The only change I made was to use less barley.  I cooked one cup, but added a bit at a time until it looked right.

Chicken and rice casserole, a revamped recipe from the first cookbook I ever owned when I was a kid. And because it's kid food...frozen peas and carrots and corn. The chicken isn't burned, that's onion soup mix sprinkled over the top. It forms almost a glaze while it bakes.

I was disappointed to learn from your post that an American culinary graduate and alleged longtime chef would not know that the fish Hawaiians call mahi mahi, and that Latin Americans call dorado is actually a dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus).
