Ed, that looks fabulous.
I joined an ex-neighbor for a meal at a Persian restaurant in Mission Viejo.

I'd only been to one other Persian restaurant in Westwood which left a lot to be desired. Because my friend is Persian I didn't hesitate at his suggestion.
When we sat down a plate of Tahdiq was brought to us covered with a lentil and lamb sauce. Nothing better than that crispy layer of hard Basmati goodness. I could have dined just on that.
It was followed by a small cup of a lentil tomato soup. Wish it was a large bowl.
I ordered what Masoud ordered... grilled Cornish Game Hen that was accompanied by a grilled tomato and Safron Basmati rice which I sprinkled liberally with Sumac.
The chicken was bone in and cut up and served sort of like a kabob without the skewer.
Moist, juicy and excellent. This certainly changed my impression of Persian Food.
I did not take any pictures because there was a large group of mourning Persians that were there after a funeral. THAT was different.
