Tomatillos were not involved.

Too bad I don't have a guacamole channel!...in my mind.

The salsa has black pepper. That I know.

Black pepper and maybe oregano.

Someone swore they had the recipe and gave it to me.
I've never made it.  Don't want to be disappointed.

Tito’s Tacos Salsa

8 Roma tomatoes
1.5 small pickled jalapenos
One pickled carrot from the jalapeno can
One thin slice of white onion
Juice from 1/4 lime
About a tsp of salt
Ten or so dashes of pepper

Just put it all in a blender or food processor

I agree on the Roma but do you think it's possible that the tomatoes are blanched - shocked - peeled - squeezed (some seeds remain) zapped.

I cry real tears about hot sauce heat when the cap of the bottle is still on. I just detected the black pepper as heat.

But I am a gringa from NJ.

Felix, what did I miss?

Agnes, those dogs are a work of art!

Tito's salsa has no heat.  It's about taste.  You may be right about the squeezing of the tomatoes but would they really take the time?

Has it changed at all over the years?

I went through the salsa in a CCSI session and It really seems as though the tomatoes have been peeled. The fresh froth on top hints tomatoes and nothing but tomatoes as the base. I don't know too much about salsa but I've zapped my share of Romas over the years.

Felix, It's not supposed to hurt! If it's still hurting in the morning... call your dentist.

CC:  Has it changed over the years?  Yes... it used to be on the counter in small containers for you to take yourself.    They may zap them.  I don't remember any tomato skin in it.

They always offered the diced, pickled jalapeno sauce for heat.

It's the infected part that hurts, which he said to expect (I'm supposed to give the antibiotics a couple of days, and call him if it doesn't get better). He actually called me tonight...from his house, at just shy of 9pm, to see how I'm doing.

Feel better soon!

To rule out tomatillo juice I will juice a tomatillo before I go to the park for a run while I throw bread towards pigeons....and yell at squirrels. That's Day 1 on the wagon.

We can safely say...peas (that was a strange notion through the years) are off the board.

The guacamole is a tough nut to crack.

This is tomatillo juice in a Tomatillo Mary...

I never had Pulaski hot dogs. Made in Linden. II wonder if it's related to Pulaski mustard. That's a good old-school mustard.

No tomatillos!  Not tart enough.

I overdosed on it last night.  It had avocados in it!

Maybe it's just water and a robot-coupe.  Can you juice a jalapeno?

It's safe to say...avocados make the cut!

Jalapeños can be juiced with a juice extractor. I'd be reporting some meals from the emergency room if I drank it .

Nothing like avocados or bananas with an extractor. They could be zipped and zapped with a Vitamix etc.

Happy Birthday, Janet! Calamari sounds wonderful!

I graduated to bean with ham soup from my freezer tonight. It's better, though! Maybe in a couple of days I'll be back to real food, although I'm gonna have to skip really hard stuff like nuts or chips for a while yet.

Inspired by a recent trip to Nashville.  I tried to recreate the "Stroganoff Burger" from "The Pharmacy" Burger Parlor and Beer Garden.

It was about 2/3lb of fresh ground beef, grilled to proper doneness, a stroganoff sauce, with carmelized onions and mushrooms, and a hint of sour cream with swiss.

I have now gone through 4lbs of ground beef and a lb of swiss and 2 16oz sour creams and still have not hit the perfect mix that the pharmacy offers.

They were nonetheless very edible and I am going to have burgers again tonight.

This time with baby swiss and carmelized onions and sauted mushrooms.  YUMMMMMMMM

HEY PP - they got a great selection of beers too, and REAL phosphates and sodas and shakes.

It has, pretty much! Despite my inability to remember to take four antibiotic pills per day (I'm getting three, it's pretty close). It's still a little goofy when I bite down very hard, but I think that's more that the temporary filling sticks up a little higher than my tooth did. I'm not supposed to chew on that side anyway. Speaking of chewing...Vidalia onions are in stores! I had to do a huge sausage, bell pepper and Vidalia onion skillet for dinner. Which I was even able to eat! An all-around win.
