plus tuna doesn't go good with beer....wait a minute.. it might go good with a Schnefnowskis summer blueberry rose light ale.

Half pound of 80/20, large seseme bun, and Kinders BBQ sauce...real plain but yummy...
 
I bought my first gas grill a few months ago and I've used it every night except 3...now I love cooking over an open flame (not coals) using oak wood here on the ranch and a cowboy style tripod grill, but I sorta started the use of a gas grill up at the railroad yard...I never touched one before that...but the last 3 years have been interesting, and only one poor person said the food was burnt, and he wasn't on our crew anyway, but just to be nice I cooked him up a new Ballpark dog & sent him on his way...
 
I think this new gas grill (which I got on sale for under $200 and has a side burner) will extend my grilling season beyond what I can do with the open oak fire pit after the rain & snow seasons starts...once the rains made my oak wood wet, grilling season was over for close to 6 months...this winter WILL be a test...
 
I think we all know what a burger looks like so I'll spare you the photo...
 
On the other hand, the photo that Felix posted looks kinda healthy, (and I even recognise the ingredients)...very colorful Felix...
 

Rribeye steaks grilled on my Weber. Buttered noodles and corn. I had stocked up on charcoal in case we lost power, which we didn't.

Baked hamburgers and sweet and sour green beans on deck for tonight.

Bob is out of town, so for me its a tenderlroin sandwich( which we had on Sunday) with provolone cheese and a salad, maybe some fruit. skbob would be proud-cooked perfectly rare....

Marinated Lamb Chops on the grill, sliced cold Big Boy Tmaters, corn on the cob, 6 or 19 Screwdrivers!

Dodger Dog topped with mustard, onions, relish and jalapenos.
 
$6.00 plus an extra $1.50 for the jalapenos.

small salad, meatloaf, corn on the cob, cowboy beans (similar to baked beans and made with dried Great Northerns), custard pie. 

Some one just brought in a LaRosa's Pizza with pineapple and xtra cheese. 
 
If you want pineapple on your pizza, GET THE HAM TOO!!

$1.50 for the jalapenos...???   You could buy a whole pocketfull at the market for that price (although not as convenient)...
 
I don't know what brand dogs they serve at the Giants & A's games...
 
But something I truely miss are the dogs of the late, great DOGGIE DINER (of the SF Bay Area) ... there were 4 that I frequented in the 1960's:

East Oakland at 98th & E14th
Downtown Oakland at Latham Square
 

After the death of the founder Al Ross, Doggie Diner folded...yet, a collection of 3 of the fiberglass dog heads (which were a rotating sign) has toured the country on a trailer, and was featured on a Tv show...they currently rest on Treasure Island in the SF Bay (between SF and Oakland)
 

Dinner last night was grilled TriTip & spuds...this was after a lunch of a Rodeo Burger in Garberville (Humboldt County).

Zapped Michelina chicken, noodles & broccoli, two cut up fresh home-grown tomatoes (7 of them appeared in a Kroger bag on my front porch a couple of days ago, and at least so far, no one has admitted to leaving them) with 1000 island dressing, and pancake squash.  Pancake squash is yellow squash, sliced into about 1/8" thick slices, dipped in pancake batter and fried in a skillet.  It has been at least 30 years since I have had it, and I saw some in a Wal-Mart yesterday and thought, I wonder if it tastes as good as it used to when we raised in our garden.  (It does.)

Tonight I will be having Nutrisytem Rotini with tiny meatballs...
 
But first...
 
I saute some fresh garlic and onions with a sprinkling of crushed red pepper.  Then I add the juice from a can of chopped clams and a splash of wine.
 
After cooking it down a bit I stir in the nasty microwave Nutrisytem dinner and the reserved clams to heat them up.  I end up with something that tastes wonderful while remaining on their program.

I forgot to comment on the Dodger Dog.
 
It was just okay.  They flat grill them and by the time you get to your seat they're not hot.  I think they have Farmer John privately make them.  They have no snap or much bite to the consistency.  They're not overly spiced, either which is why I opted for the jalapenos.
 
I knew that it wasn't a great dog but you have to have at least one.... tradition!
 
I also bought a small beer (draught Miller Lite) which was tiny and $6.  I refused to pay $11 for the larger 16 ounce cup.
 
 

At least you're sorta close to PINKS just west of Gollywood...I mean Hollyweird...uh, I mean um Hollywoody...er, you know what I mean...

I'll eat at Pink's but I'm not one of those who thinks they're the best there is.  I certainly wouldn't wait in line for one.
 
Fab in the San Fernando Valley uses Thurmann's dogs so for me, they're the best.
 
However, I've yet to visit the Papaya King or Skooby's in Hollywood.
 
Have you eaten at the French Laundry and is it as good as they are touted?

Naw...it's way too upscale for me...I'd rather have a damn good steak than "fru fru food"...
 
Speaking of "fru fru food" ... I suspect that the person who coined the term "California Cuisine" was from Kansas and never actually stepped a foot within the borders of California...stick 3 improbable small serving size food items items on a plate, squirt some kind of sauce on the plate that looks like puree'd grasshopper bug juice, and then call it dinner...   HA...!!!    In my very jaded opinion that's not a MEAL...it's an appetizer at best...
 
I guess that some folks really get off on the French food served up in the Napa Valley, but to me it's over rated...I don't eat snails, I step on them...
 
To my non gourmet tastes, one of the best places to eat was Martinelli's Smokehouse in St Helena...long gone but not forgotten...we used to eat there after getting off work at Beringer Bros...Old grape stumps were used to fire a brick oven with indirect heat (I used to cook with grape prunings) ... this was 35 years ago and IF it was still there I'd be making a bee line to that place as fast as possible...
 
BTW...If you ever get up to St Helena I suggest you buy cheese at the Napa Valley Olive Oil Company...it's the best...!!!
 
Also, east of St Helena is Angwin (Anguish?), and you might want to enjoy fresh ground Cashew Butter at the 7th Day Adventist College market...

Dinner tonight was one of my simple but scrumptious "super burgers" on a large seseme bun... I often grill at sunset when the bats are coming out to eat the skeeters...
 

 
Nothing fancy, but you can almost taste it just by looking at the photo...
 
Pre cooking seasoning was kosher salt and Weber's (new?) "Gourmet Burger Seasoning" ... which is a medium course grind mix of spices that really compliments the 80/20 meat and the Kinder's mild bbq sauce...
 
Maximum satisfaction with Kinder's bbq sauce, cooked in a bit with live flame on both sides, let rest 5 minutes, then devoured...
 
PS...one of the young kids on our railroad crew was given the chore of cooking one day on the gas grill in back of the locomotive shop...but I noticed he served the buns cold...
 
The next day I showed him how to toast the buns on the grill...it had never occured to him to toast the buns, (I have no idea where he's eaten for the last 25 years) and to me plopping a burger onto a cold, untoasted bun is not the way I want to eat...

Nothing fancy tonight...2 Hebrew Nat'l "jumbo" franks grilled + Kinders BBQ sauce.

Tonight I did shrimp scampi over whole wheat pasta with a side of peas.

Meh...I've gotten used to it, but it's not my favourite. However, my mother is borderline diabetic, so on the VERY rare occasion I'm allowed to make pasta it has to be whole wheat. To me, it all has a way too grainy feel in my mouth. The lasagna noodles aren't bad, surprisingly enough.
