I went to Islands for lunch.

This burger has a caramelized bacon and onion relish with blue cheese crumbles and melted Gruyere.  I told them to hold the tomatoes.  They were not needed at all.
The fries were perfect.  Nice and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle.

White Castle burgers can be found in any refrigerated section of all the major food stores here!  Albertsons, Vons etc!

That's true. It's a shame, though, that they're nothing like a White Castle hamburger, except for appearance.

Shisheeto Peppers

Followed that up with a bowl of outstanding lobster bisque with puff pastry top.

Lisa, those are Bonito shavings.  They taste smoked.  I believe they're Japanese.

Greg, only 2 of the peppers had any spice to them.  I love them.

I made some Shoyu Chicken W/Szechuan stir fry noodles........It hit the spot on a cool windy Pacific Northwest day.

Mar, this is a great dish for chicken thighs, I like them too. They simmer in a pot on top of the stove in Soy sauce, ginger, garlic and sugar. I love the nice color and authentic oriental look they give to the plate. It's a real easy recipe, Shoyu chicken is big in Hawaii..........

I agree, I could eat a bowl of stir-fry noodle every few days. I have lots of veggies in the garden, I hope to use them in this noodle dish all summer.

Paging Agnes! Please report to lunch with your delicious NJ Chinese food. Here's mine from Saturday.

I haven't had orange shrimp in a long time. Along with the usual gigantic score of fortune cookies I get for some reason...the shrimp were very large for delicious lunch special. Oh how it pays to be nice....

My son ordered the old-school classic egg foo young.

Pre-EFY sauce...

Hahaha Mar

CC - I love Five Guys fries - I think they're my favorite fast food fries (say that quickly five times ).  Looking forward to seeing what your waffle creation looks like.  I also like that you can get grilled onions on your burger and little versions of everything.   I also love egg foo yung (earlier post).  I never see it out here, though.

We're very fortunate to still find many Americanized-Chinese menu classics in & around NYC . Not many sit-down full-service places left (mostly takeout) but it's still fantastic fun food.

The Waffler proved to be excellent for reheating Five Guys fries. They don't get the signature waffle stamp but "qualifry" A+ for crispy delicious pull-apart fries.

They made the perfect base for my very first chili cheese fries...ever

That's too many f words to say without finding trouble in round 2 or 3
