I saw the big Cinco de Mayo sign in the sky from the middle of Tito's parking lot.

It was not that big....it was just that close (and very yellow). Open 24 hours a day?

We're doing a Cinco de Mayo potluck at work today. My contribution is a braised 8 pound bone-in pork shoulder. Used onion, garlic, cumin, bay leaf, chipotles in adobo, s&p, cloves, and chili powder, braised for about 5 hours. I reduced the braising liquid and removed most of the fat, to reheat the meat in right before we eat. Also made some pickled onions and spicy black beans. Lots of other good food from dips to enchiladas, the office is starting to smell pretty good at this point.

You work in a fun office Seamus!

We have our moments.

I'm stuffed to the gills. Pork tacos, Mexican "lasagna", taco dip, lots of fresh toppings, homemade guacamole, spicy chicken... I need a siesta!

I want SeamusD tacos!

Nice boat.

Cinco de Mayo must have a great 4AM business because it's usually empty.  I do like their eggs and onion burrito at an early hour but I'm never up during an early hour any more.  (I used to stop there on the way to work over twenty years ago so they're doing something right)

There's a funny Yelp review about Cinco de Mayo...

"The only good thing about this place is that it's open 24/7"

Hello.

Damn--I have eaten well today, but am suddenly hungry after reading about SeamusD's contribution to the office party.  Not fair!

What about that boat, CC???  That looks like a party, too.  We should be having margaritas with Seamus's tacos.

You are right about the dogs!

Yes, Mustards is still there and still turning out delicious, beautiful food.  I love their savory items, too, but here's a photo of their famous lemon lime tart with brown sugar meringue.  Yes, it's crazy and over the top, but also a thing of beauty.

Sensible snack time (we don't have a snack thread )...

Two chakri & some sweet shakkar para....

Sweet shakkar para is like the flavors of a fortune cookie...but if the fortune cookie misbehaved a little bit and decided to be a little richer & luxurious.

CC - I so love naan fresh out of the clay oven, slathered with melted butter.

Met some former classmates at Mission College for their end-of-semester BBQ.  I tried to be sensible:

I just wanted to rhyme like what's for Lunch with Dr. Seuss.. It's a little like an Indian version of hot & sour soup.

I had company for Lunch...

Don't tell Maker's Mark what I did with the bottle sweater!

We were supposed to paint a milk barrel. But..someone was cranky.

I was so proud of myself & extra careful to speak much slower than usual and use proper English words and phrases without my hands all up in air while making sure you wouldn't have to consult the Urban Dictionary ...for an entire day!

Sharing is caring!

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

I had Lunch @ Mamoun's Falafel in <<<Hoboken>>> currently #2 and climbing as the best "foodie" city and we are certainly pleased about that...

Mamoun's on MacDougal in NYC is listed in the book "1000 Places To See Before You Die" but we're livin' it up here and the Falafel is just as good on the pretty side of the Hudson River...

The Falafel sandwich is quite filling and one of the best deals in town @ $3....

Mamoun's Falafel are light and just "green" enough for good flavor...not like a heavy medicine ball...

I also had some Knafe (shredded phyllo stuffed with pistachio & drizzled with honey)...

A wonderful $5 Lunch.

It was an excellent Lunch...Agnes!

The only thing is that the Knafe goes from drizzle to ooze with the honey. So if it's taken to go....you have to request it to be wrapped in tin foil...or it's a sticky situation.

Mar....Is there a place near you called Ricos Tacos?
Rico in Spanish translates to something tasty or delicious.
Think about all the taco shops or trucks you see in LA that say Ricos somewhere in the name.
When I first moved to Highland Park, I couldn't get over the amount of taco shops and trucks that this guy Rico owned, they were everywhere, he was some businessman!
Ricos Tacos, Ricos Burritos, Ricos Mariscos, Ricos, Ricos, Ricos!

A sorta simple lunch with fried cornbread, boiled cabbage with potatoes, onions, jalapeno, smoked hog jowl and chicken stock, salt and pepper.  I also got some red cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli and a nice German beer.

Today I placed three thin slices of deli-counter olive loaf on white bread that had been dressed with mayonnaise, mustard and freshly ground black pepper. I topped that with a thin slice of Swiss cheese and a second slice of white bread that had been similarly dressed. My sandwich was accompanied by a glass of 1 percent milk. It was a delightful repast.

Sounds good Michael. I would have it with super thin sliced Thuman's bologna included. Sounds wonderfully unhealthy!

Today I made smoked salmon using cherry wood in my Cameron stovetop smoker, and steamed new potatoes with basil oil and fresh herbs.  Far cry from the crazy Chicago fast food I had yesterday, but I loved that, too.

Wow, fancy lunch! Sounds delicious!

Guess it does sound pretty fancy for lunch, but it was so simple to make and definitely tasty--I was pleased with it.

Just added a pic of the salmon:
