NYC has many single menu item restaurant themes..

One happens to be Croque Monsieur.

La Maison Du Croque Monsieur is a very pretty restaurant. It doesn't serve the most exciting Croque...but saying La Maison Du Croque Monsieur has to put you in a good mood. Even if otherwise miserable or cranky or whatever...

Go ahead. Say it. Feel better.

Oh, if I cannoli be forgiven so easily...

The croque monsieur photos on La Maison Du Croque Monsieur's Web site look a lot like panini, and I'm wondering now whether those are more authentic French versions of this sandwich than the ones I posted earlier.  I have had one like those, but I didn't post it.  Here it is:

That's a pretty picture of a Croque that looks to be lounging on sunny day.

Hahaha--that's for real!!!  It reminds me I stopped in at a McD's across from the train station in Nice.  They had some things I'd never seen here, including little espresso cups.

I don't know Bill, those eggs look as if they were made to replace worn tire treads.

Looks delicious!  I slice the Spam even thinner and fry it until quite crisp. That's how my family likes it!

Yesterday I had the worst excuse for a buttermilk donut--I don't know what they were thinking when they decided these should be in their inventory. Booo

Today, however, I went to a different place and got an almond croissant.  In addition to the delicious almond filling inside, they put more of it on top and pressed sliced almonds into it before baking.  It was a fine thing.

Oh my! Good mornin'' croissant!

Boo indeed @ a bad donut. They should be ticketed for selling them.

I had a NJ bagel with cream cheese made with an "imported" bagel....from Brooklyn...

Went to Carl's Jr. for a Hardee's Biscuit (Or 2).
Had the Sausage Link, Egg & Cheese and a Sausage Patty, Egg & Cheese and they were just as good as I remember them from living in the South & going to Hardee's.

Hardees always have above average biscuits.  I always get the sausage and biscuit with four grape jellies.  I get two and share them with my ugly dog Angel.  She enjoys them even with the grape jelly more than me.

It turns out that the Carl's Jr. in my area does not have biscuit sandwiches at all so I went elsewhere and got this (sorry for the blur).  It's hard scrambled eggs (my apologies to everyone who likes them soft) on top of country potatoes with bacon, onions, and mushrooms.  It will also be what's for breakfast (or dinner) for me at least another day!

love2bake, I would never apologize for a breakfast picture like that!!
Yesterday, my daughter Emily and I, before our weekly food shopping trip, as per usual, had breakfast out. This time, not at a diner as I was craving IHOP's Swedish Crepes and sausage! Emily had their "chicken and waffles" with a side of bacon. Their chicken is actually chicken strips but Emily says they are delicious. I really do enjoy our Saturday breakfasts together!

I spent all of Monday from noon until 6:30 pm in the ER. By the time they decided to keep me overnight, the kitchen closed and I really didn't care to eat anyway after being poked, prodded and tested. About 5 am I began to think about food so as soon as room service opened at 6:30 I placed a call for breakfast! Two very nice plump breakfast sausages and an English muffin! Yum!! Charged me for another day of tests.
