That reminds of an item I heard about the other day:  a reuben egg roll.  Good idea or bad???  Or maybe I should move the question to a different place...

We have a small "local" chain that used to have them, they were pretty good. But, a few blocks away from my office here is an Irish pub that was been on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives recently, and they have deep fried rueben fritters (they call them Irish Cannonballs) that'll blow your mind.

That place looks like a lot of fun!  I visited WNY in 2006--what gorgeous countryside.

Enjoyed a Kewpee's double cheeseburger for breakfast. Kewpee's opens at 7am and there is never a shortage of customers consuming cheeseburgers. Don't knock it, if you haven't tried it. Here's an 8 year old post for your reading pleasure:  http://www.roadfood.com/F...Breakfast-m142715.aspx
Enjoy!

Today I took a visit to "Old Town" Tehachapi for...

Carlos'! just like home (sort of)...but far more quiet.

An apple fritter that I could have driven around to sniff all morning...

I know my way around an Old-Fashioned & these are right up there with the best I've ever had...

A splendid morning. I did almost get accosted by a tumbleweed...but these things happen.

For my first visit to the Waffle House since surgery six weeks ago I had four eggs scrambled with cheese, hash browns scattered light, peppered (jalapenos) and topped (with chili), and a half order of wheat toast. Oh, and coffee of course.

They reverse-course too! They know I want to curse at them and if I did that it would make the front page of the bleepin' paper here!

The apple fritter was so big...it could have been a shield.

I have the top secret list of donuts for Orlando.

I'll lay out R-E-S-C-U-E M-E in crullers & donuts on the top of the mountain and see what happens first.

One of these mornings I will score a Boysenberry Danish from Kohnen's Authentic German Bakery in Tehachapi CA (if you're keeping score at home)...

Kohnen's is a lovely Bakery...

With many other delectable goodies...

But I want a Boysenberry Danish. We'll see what happens.

This morning I had a beautiful croissant...

Only CRAZY people would eat Raisin Bran for Breakfast when they could eat 15 raisin pies. I worry about them.

Yes, CC!!
So, today's breakfast was bites of 10 different pies in the "Open" category.  The weirdest pie we had was chocolate and frito pie.  You heard me right... and yes, it was strange!  Made me want salsa.

Many of the items are identical (even better) than Trader Joe's at beyond bargain prices. I read somewhere recently that Aldi is coming to SoCal!

Those are neat chickens. I trust that Lil Porkchop wasn't responsible for that sausage. Because if he was I guarantee that lleechef will be there in a flash to beat you with a cat o' nine tails.

Michael, Pork Chop is out in the pasture with our new Calf, they sleep together. The other day Pork Chop did something to the Calf, Pork chop started running with the Calf chasing hi around the pasture. I will get an up dated picture so Lisa sees that Pork Chop is doing fine. If Pork Chop ever went by the way of the frying pan, Lisa would be the last one to know. I know I can't say I sent him to the farm to have  a good life, he already lives on a farm..............New Pictures coming soon.......................Happy to see your doing good Michael...................pnwc

Nice breakfast food from ALDI's, CC!  Which macaron was your favorite?  Can't be the lemon, if it was a wuss.

Breakfast this morning was an airport Auntie Anne's pretzel with melted butter slathered on it.  It's a guilty pleasure.  And yes, I'm a heathen.

I gave lemon a big SNAP OUTTA IT! lecture from Fresno to somewhere (I forget where...but I saw lots and lots of almond trees) and it held together!

They were all so wonderful & packed with flavor! Gun to my head I'd be smart to vote for Italian Pistachio!

Wait until you find out the quirky kooky fun dessert adventure I discovered for the next SF marathon! You're gonna love it!

I love Auntie Anne's pretzels! But...bad is my calling.

Was it the Farmer's Market near Du-Par's?

I didn't register with me that it was so close to Canter's until I was passing and when I was driving by I cursed a little streak for missing it ...and I hit the horn by mistake!

My niece was like tsk tsk tsk...about the horn. This is NOT New Jersey!

Ohhh yeah--you can't do that here, CC, unless someone's about to kill you with their car, and then it's almost too late.  I had a lot to unlearn when I moved out here.

I'm all for a kooky quirky dessert adventure!  We should check out some donuts next time, too.

Mar - the salted caramel macaron at Chantal Guillon is worth whatever they charge for it, imho.  Now I'm going to need to try the pistachio.  Great breakfast candidates--egg whites!!!

I didn't even think of the egg white & Breakfast connection!

They are worth every penny!

My Mom loved the salted caramel. When I took out the box she said McMacarons! Nooooo! Not McMacarons!

She had her share of McMacarons at conventions where all of the worldwide McProducts are available in unlimited supply.

McMacarons are supplied by Groupe Holder - the parent company of...

Hooray for donuts!

I don't think I even noticed there was a donut kiosk (from a Donut Farm! in Oakland) at the Ferry Building. I read somewhere they offer a blood orange donut that looked really nice.

I was so occupied with the delicious blood orange olive oil & balsamic vinegar samples during that time.

If we both missed donuts...that really says something about the Ferry Building!

She was Hollywood Vice!

These are the things I see at red lights!

Under the egg white Breakfast qualifier....Tartine Bakery wins the boldest most stunning visual of egg whites...on the Breakfast tray!

Boy, am I confused! Where I live, Aldi is a discount grocery store where you have to bring your own bags, and virtually no brand in it is anything you've ever heard of in your life. It's hit or miss on quality, but the prices are even better than Save A Lot.

So we *are* talking about the same store? Huh. Fresh & Easy doesn't sound like Aldi at all...Aldi doesn't have its own labels, they're more like a Grocery Outlet, where they get products from wherever is getting rid of them and sell them nationwide. On rare occasions they'll have a national brand, but the vast majority of their stuff is kind of like a brand you've heard of, with kind of similar packaging. Like shopping at the dollar store.
