Big Train powders are what some restaurants use to make their smoothies.

I use it like Cremora... flavors and sweetens without sugar.

Never heard of it!
Looked it up and it's sold in Costco's & Sam's over here and a few coffee shops.

CC - the rhubarb was poached in rose wine with a cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, and lemon juice.  And a bunch of sugar.  You'd probably like it, but it's no maple buttermilk bar....

Had breakfast with my husband and son at a new place I discovered. My husband and I had the biscuits with poached eggs and sausage gravy (in NJ that is defiantly different) and my son had French toast(made with challah bread) and a side of bacon and sausage. We also ordered a side of corned beef hash which they make in house.  Delicious!

All in all a good breakfast! I definitely recommend Benny's when in the area.

You guys!!!  Arrrgh.  That all looks so fabulous.
I had ballpark food for breakfast, which ran into lunch, and made me feel so gross I'm skipping dinner.

A friend of mine introduced me to New Benny's (described by Agnesrob above) a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe a place that good flew totally under the radar...except for the locals, who all seem to know about it.

This is a breakfast thread but thier pastrami might be the best I've had in NJ (I realize that's not saying much compared to NY), but it's excellent, and a huge sandwich for about 1/3 the price of across the River.

I was about to cry when I heard my donuts went missing!

CK they are from Carlos' Donuts in Tehachapi CA.

Maple - coconut - a little sugah glaze - and a secret little kick in the pants.

Aww...what's for Breakfast trickles a little like maple syrup without CC! I'm so honored! The straw that stirs the drink...

Awesome lookin' Breakfast! I vaguely remember salami. Sigh. Salami is in the witness protection program with ricotta cheese these days.

The focaccia sorta looks like big giant croutons at this hour. I love me some croutons! That would be fauxcaccia.

While in Las Vegas I was on a mission to find hidden treasure!

Off to the Golden Gate Casino. A little whiff of the spray paint art...

Down the very mysterious hallway...

CC come on down! Let's go let's go...

Sit at the counter...

Where am I? These things happen in Las Vegas...

What's for Breakfast (at 6pm)?

Short stack of sin(city)fully excellent pancakes (in my book). Vegas stack sounded fun but no dice...

And why not? (a rhetorical question). Las Vegas Du-Par's has "temporary custody" of THE Original Shrimp Cocktail of Las Vegas as served @ Golden Gate Casino. Millions & millions have been served and I earned my kooky Shrimp Cocktail badge...

Delish!

Then so many other peeps arrived to have Shrimp Cocktail...

Sorry I didn't have any pie. Don't heckle me about that.

The pies were hangin' on the wall of the case! Must be Las Vegas MAGIC!...

Whaaaaaat--no pie?!?!?  Heckle heckle heckle!!!  Du-Par's is on my bookmark list.

Yep--the focaccia was drying out, so I toasted it.  Honey is so good with it as the focaccia is a little salty.  Croutons/crumbs were the next logical step!  (That breakfast was about 5 pts.)

I'll sit right there and see what happens after you take on Du-Par's pancakes.

I woulda been bowlin' for donuts if I had any capacity for more carbs after one pancake.

Closest I got to ANY carbs after that was playing the Cops & Donuts slot machine at Binion's Casino...

As the machine says...good luck!

Ann, it has to be kosher salami. When I was a little boy (yes, I really was once) I thought all eggs had salami in them. Then I ran into pastrami and eggs.

No, Dale, they were not pterodactyl eggs.

Honestly for some reason my instincts told me that pies @ Las Vegas Du-Par's might not be the same priority as pies @ Du-Par's in the Los Angeles area.

I'm so not about disappointment & sad stories when it comes to things like dessert.

There's NO crying in baseball or dessert.

<---None of that!

Keeping with my MB theme, I had 2 pieces of mandel broit that I made for the first time. I used my mother's recipe that was very lacking in instruction.

Had them along with my cup of morning coffee.

I need to find a thin blade knife to cut them the next time I make them.

Wait a minute, CC--you still have corned beef??  Damn.

MH, that is cute that you thought salami was part of eggs.  Kids believe so many funny things!  Nah, the salami I used wasn't kosher--it was made by Columbus, a local SF company, and they spell it salame.  Wth?

Oh...hell no!

That corned beef was gone in a minute. That's flavor as close to home as possible.

It just took me forever to post about it.

I still have to post about The Mad Greek.

It was like 118 degrees when I stopped in Baker.

Not a traditional breakfast but I'm not much for being traditional....

Beautiful light & airy coconut macaroons....

This one wearing a chocolate robe on the runway...

One of them should win me a ribbon in a photo contest this weekend.

We'll all celebrate together...if that's the case.

Everyone else will have photos of nature.

No nature for me...

Those bran muffins look excellent...and they look to be takin' a graceful bow in the tin!

I love bran muffins...and sadly they have become difficult to find these days.

The nougat taler is insanely delicious. I'm having a nougat taler/macaroon course this week.

The macaroons are soooo light and airy they are a little like meringue-a-roons...

Thank you!

Quite an honor...coming from you!

I wanted to make sexy pretzels that could be the centerfold of pretzel magazine.

I hope the pretty florentine lace cookies cooperate with the plan to become cannoli shells today...or it's back to the Buon Natale! cookie tray for them...

This walnut bar looks a little like a Pop Tart....

But the walnut bar was a walnut bar...not a Pop Tart. It was very nutty & rich. It almost made me want to drink a cup of coffee.

Almost doesn't count in coffee & walnut bars.
