What's on TV...???

What are you watching on TV...(now or earlier)...???

Tell us whatcha watchin'...

If I was able to design a poll here, I'd be curious as to what catagories folks viewing habits might fall into...such as:

Comedy
Movies
Game Shows
Sit-Coms
Dramas
Educational
Other

Prime time
Non Prime Time
Morning
Daytime
Evening
Late Night

Cable TV
Satellite
Bundled Service (Tv, Phone, Broadband)
Rooftop Antenna (how many stations?)

Widescreen TV  (16x9)
Standard TV  (4x3)

DVR or TiVo

But, alas, I like many can't create a poll here...but...feel free to pretend it IS a poll, and include what ever details you wish to describe...

The last thing I watched tonight was the 10:oo Pm news on KTVU (Oakland, CA)

I recorded a couple other shows on the DVR that I'll watch later...

    The Equipment:

Dishnet 722 HD rcvr w/ DVR, plus 1tb external hard drive to store more recordings on, HD service for life, Polaroid 21" LCD HD TV with HDMI connection. Also a Philips DVD disk recorder that uses the S-Vidio feed from the Dishnet rcvr. Stereo sound goes to 24" Pioneer speakers via a Teac amp for my main sound, and RCA amp and Klipsch speakers for secondary sound, plus the sound from the built in tv speakers via the HDMI cable.

Future project is to upgrade the audio amp to a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound model so I can take advantage of the TOSLINK optical digital audio most of my equipment already outputs...

Watching "Justified" Tuesday nights on FX, the best show since the Sopranos.

Otherwise, news, business, and politics on FNC and FBC, Tony Bourdain on Travel, and lots-o-stuff on the History Channel:  Pawn Stars, Decoded, Off Limits, etc.  The best comedy on T.V. now is MSNBC's regular programming and Hardcore Pawn on Tru-TV.

I mostly view programs I've recorded off cable on a DVR so that I can "zap" the commercials.  Receiver is a 60" Sony 1080. HD.

I am getting used to my two new ROKU boxes.
My early indicators are very positive.
Channel selections and services can be confusing.
    So Far:
Netflix: Tried, cancelled ... too ew good titles available for streaming.
    Amazon: "Prime" seems worthwhile.
    YouTube: Frustrating by its absence.
    Hulu Plus: Yes.
    Nowhere TV: Good.
    PlayOn: Promising.
Search for private channels is frustrating.
I was thinking of starting a new thread.

Sunday - I'm following Downton Abbey mini series on Masterpiece Theater, and on most Mondays, our local PBS station runs two consecutive Antique Roadshows.  Saturday morning if I'm home - America's Test Kitchen, the rest of the time I look for a good movie.

I generally watch history (when it's about history), cooking, military, or cartoon channels. I don't watch any prime time alphabet network shows, sports, news, reality shows, etc. I'll occasionally watch an old movie on Netflix, and used to watch British comedy shows on Hulu until they started charging. I can still find some things like that on Youtube, so no big loss.

I recently discovered a British comedy on Netflix called "Saxondale", about a middle aged ex-roadie with an anger management problem, that now runs his own pest control business. It's a scream.

I bought every thing Comcast has to offer.  I get about 800 channels.  I pay for all kinds of movies that I never watch.  I guess it is sorta waste of money but its there for guest.

    Mostly I watch:
    1:CNN
    2:Fox
    3:Travel Channel
    4:Speed
    5:All ESPN
    6:National Georgraphic
    7CNN Headline
    8:Local News and Weather.

The lead actor does a good job capturing Sherlock's quirkiness & Watson is darker & more intense than usually portrayed. I also like the concept of putting them in modern day London.

Just finished watching the end of the series Arrested Development, streamed from Netflix on my Roku.

We watch DirecTV and, on the Roku, Netflix and Amazon Instant Videos. I have at least a dozen channels set up, but most of them aren't worth a damn.

I try to stick to comedy, but I'll be OK with a decent drama. I don't need anything that wil make me feel sadness or outrage, I get enough of that in real life; I think I'm pretty well tuned in to that part of life without someone trying to give it to me through fiction. I like to be reminded about how life can be fun.

Sports? Sure, but I'm more Pittsburgh/Notre Dame specific than I am sports specific. I generally won't watch random games (as I sit here in front of Missouri/Texas NCAABB).

I got hooked on this series from its beginning 2 seasons ago.  Not only is it an engaging and entertaining cop/crime drama, it is the best written show on TV.

The terse, pithy dialogue, reminiscent of Dashiell Hammett's, is pure poetry and the characters are multi-layered and intriguing.

If you missed the first two seasons, buy the DVD's.  You'll thank me.
