Whataburger x 3
Thu, 03/3/05 10:08 PM

When Whataburger is mentioned I'm sure most people think of the chain that runs from about Texas to the Florida panhandle. I have yet to eat at one. I have eaten at several Whataburgers in Concord, NC, not part of the Texas Whataburger. Now I see there aredifferent Whataburgers in the Richmond/Newport News Virgina area. How many different Whataburgers are there and how can they all be so named?

I've eaten at one in Concord (didn't know there was more than one). Also, the one in Russelville, AR, is really good. Don't know more than that... (Hey, Red, here I am...)

The one in Russelville has shown up on several lists of the best burgers in the U.S. Think maybe the Sterns have even written about it somewhere along the line. QFan Bonita Springs

There was a lawsuit last year between them over the trademark (I think the Va. company sued the Texas company). I'm not sure of the outcome; it may be in appeal now. I didn't realize that there was a Whataburger in Richmond until I heard about the lawsuit recently. Maybe I'll give it a try. Frank

Our's in Gainesville has good burgers, I like the crunch on the edge of the patties. Our FF's suck as well. Merely warm at most, and all the time.

According to the menu I have there are 4 What A Burgers in the Concord/Kanapolis/Moorseville area although I swear I saw a fifth just east of Concord. It looks as though at one time there may have been up to a dozen. If anyone ever stops at the Concord area WBs ask for a Witch Doctor.

Can't resist. Going to try the well known one when I pass thru Jacksonville, FL and I really like the one in Concord, NC; I wouldn't call that one a chain.

There is a WAB east of Concord. It is in Mt. Pleasant. Many moons ago there was one in Albemarle I enjoy one in Concord or the one in Mt. Pleasant at every opportunity.

Had no idea that there were others of the same name. The original chain started in Texas, and that is probably what prompted the lawsuit, since it would be infringement on a trademarked name. Taco Cabana had a lawsuit against some outfit called Dos Pesos in Houston, but not sure what the beef was about as they do not have the same name.

The 77th Texas Legislature officially recognized Whataburger as a Texas treasure. My friend Jack, who now lives in Las Vegas, would not think of a visit back to Texas without eating at least one Whataburger. Can you get jalapenos on your burger at those other Whataburger places? Joe
