If it's not a green chile cheeseburger, I want cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayo and pickles.

looks to me like someone put a burger patty on your tomato sandwich.

I like burgers just about any normal way, but here in the Carolinas, its with chili, cheese, mustard and onions and.....slaw.

This just a tip.  I like grilled onions on my burger.  Rather than using s a separate pan for my onions. When I lip the burger I set the sliced onion on top of it.  The onion cooks right on top of the burger.

...I agree with most here, the better the burger, the less topping. I want to taste the quality beef...Ever notice  a whopper or big mac tastes like a tomato and lettuce sandwich...the beef(???) is tasteless...don't believe me, take the beef out. The sandwich tastes the same. There , it is the topping that actually gives the sandwich taste. I'm eating a quality $5+ burger, I want to taste it...a bit of salt and pepper. That's it...no cheese either....as the meat quality goes down, the rate of toppings goes up!!!

How can a Big Mac taste like a tomato and lettuce sandwich when there is no tomato on it?  I do agree that the patties on a Big Mac are pretty tasteless. The only thing you taste is the secret sauce.

If I order a burger for the first time at a restaurant, I'll usually order a cheeseburger dressed with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. At least, that way, if the burger is lousy, I've got something to cover up the taste.  If I know that the quality of the burger is good, I'll order it with cheddar cheese and a slice of red or yellow onion.  No mayo needed if the burger is juicy. If I know that they have good produce, I'll tell them to put the tomato and lettuce on the side and I'll eat it separately.
