Had I known, I would've made extra! The cashews are coated with a mixture of soy sauce, honey, cayenne pepper, and ground cashews. The pecans are coated with melted butter and pure maple syrup. They're amazing, and I'm not convinced they're going to make it to the weekend for the parties.

Still feeling awful so I stayed inside for one more day.  This makes it a 2 week cold.  Hint...  Don't get it!

Tonight's dinner was a double helping size of Cream of Wheat.  Real butter, real sugar and half and half were added to the top of the bowl and then mixed in.

First time I ever had it was in the hospital.  Not something Mom ever made.  She also never made oatmeal but she loved serving us Malto-Meal...  with lumps.  I hated lumps.

Mar, I hope you kick that cold soon! I was never fond of Malt-o-Meal, either, but we used to eat oatmeal constantly. Wasn't until I was in the hospital that I ever had Cream of Wheat, either, but I do keep Co-Co Wheats on hand. Made with milk, and add either Hershey's syrup or chocolate chips to melt.

Lleechef, they're stupid easy, if time consuming.

Tonight will be beef tenderloin ( the local meat cutter had an oops sale) 1.25 lbs of angus tenderloin regularly $20.99/ lb ($26.49 before the oops) OOPS price was $14.25 with another $4.00 regular customer discount so $10.25.

Bake a potato and salad and I am set

WWE Super Smackdown Live at my arena tonight (on USA network in about an hour, I'm told), so I'm eating catering all day. They chose to reverse lunch and dinner: Lunch was prime rib, salmon with lemon and capers, grilled asparagus, rice, and a fabulous spinach salad with mandarin oranges and candied pecans. Dinner was biscuits with sausage gravy, grits, sausage links, bacon, scrambled eggs, and blueberry pancakes.

Felix, do you get to watch the shows if you want?

Went out on my patio today to see if what the rain did and was surprised to find a package from Omaha Steaks.

I just love my UPS delivery people.  They threw it over my fence (as instructed at my front door) but they didn't knock or ring the bell.  It was delivered yesterday.  I was lucky and there was still a bit of dry ice in the package.

So for tonight's dinner I'll be eating Chicken Cordon Bleu.   Not sure if I'll bother with a vegetable.

Three more varieties of stuffed chicken breasts are in my future!

Usually, yes. I run our LED ribbon board for shows, so I'm on the 3rd floor in the media booth. However, for this show they've blacked out the upper bowl with curtains so empty seats don't show on TV, and it's between me and the stage. I can sort-of see the lights that are pointing directly at me through the curtain, but that's about it. Most shows, though, yeah. I have a fabulous view.

UPS drivers are...special. Ours chose to leave a package on my back porch, a door we never use, as opposed to the side or front porches. Found it when I looked it up online to figure out what was taking so long. Glad you still had some dry ice!

Yummy!

My chicken was good but I ate the one stuffed with the wild rice.  Not big enough as I could have eaten two without a problem.

Had a toasted bagel with butter for dessert.

I have been in LA (Santa Monica) for a week, here are a few things from lunch/dinner.
My favorite Chinese BBQ restaurant Sam Woo, this was at the Alhambra location.
Roast duck, pan fried noodles with roast pork & vegetables and crispy tangerine peel beef.

800 Degrees Pizza in Santa Monica. Think Subway concept for wood fired pizza. We got a peperoni & mushroom and a white pie (no sauce) with artichokes, roasted mushrooms & arugula. Forgot to take a pic of that one. Both were very good and priced well including a salad and drinks for about $30, considering the area.

Had to stop at Phillipe for a French Dip, not as good as I remember but the "experience" is worth the price. Should have gone to The Pantry.

I visited with my old boss from when I did movie catering, he just happened to have a job close to the office that day.
Baked whitefish on cauliflower puree with basil beurre blanc, chicken parm, meatballs on creamy polenta.

Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica, great sandwich.

The Apple Pan, Hickory cheese burger & fries.

And.........Some killer Sushi at an unknown location in Malibu.

Chefbuba, what did you think of the Bay Cities sub?  I haven't been up that way in awhile as the few mile trip could take almost an hour.  I also don't like the parking or the wait but I love browsing in the store!

Looks like you hit all my favorites.  Had you been at Apple Pan late in the day one day last week or the week before, I'd be in your picture.  I get the egg salad sandwich.

Mar, The subs were very good. I would say that the bread was 50% of the sandwich. House made crusty , chewy and very fresh.
I had the "Godmother" which is your basic  Italian cold cut sandwich, my brother had the tri tip, it was roasted med rare, he said it was very good.
The traffic around this place is crazy. We tried to go on Friday afternoon, there were 15-20 cars lined up on Lincoln to turn into the parking lot and a line of people out the door.
We tried again at 11am on Sunday, still took a few minuted to get into the lot and about 15 min to get waited on.

Bill, that bright shiny thing in the sky was out all but one day, mid 60's & 70's
I was on sensory overload the whole time, now back to reality.

Now I want shrimp scampi. Maybe for New Year's...

Last night I made Kidney Bean Rabbit (Welsh Rarebit). I'd been craving it for weeks and Velveeta was on sale. Instead of toast, I served it over torn up toasted English muffins.

Not sure about that one, Felix.  I'd think I was eating dip with a spoon and I'd feel guilty.

I'll take your word for it, Felix.

Just finished a very early dinner.

Needed to pick up some prescriptions across the street at CVS and sharing the same parking lot is Pizzarito.  I can buy individual slices at Pizzarito.

So, I had one slice of mushroom and one slice of the white pizza.

I sprinkle both with garlic powder, Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.  Learned about the garlic powder when I was in Atlantic City too many years ago and have been sprinkling it when found ever since.

That looks like decent pizza!

Yeah, I'm not too sure about that Kidney Bean Rabbit.  I like kidney beans (I like all beans), I like rabbit (I know it's rarebit), I do not like Velveeta and I like my English muffins toasted well done with lots of butter.  BUT I'm thinking I would like that........even tho there's no rabbit (which I love) in it!

That pizza does look good!

If nobody but me wants any of last night's dinner, then that's all the more for me!

Tonight I did some scallop and crab stuffed sole (from Omaha Steaks), a frozen vegetable blend, and some "fried rice" out of a box. I also made 13 dozen cookies, 3 dozen truffles, and two loaves of cherry bread.

Lynn,
The frites also help to mop up all that juice.........just like in Belgium!  When I lived in the north of France (2 km from the Belgian border) we ate moules frites every Friday........with crusty bread and butter from the farm.  It was wonderful!
