Dinner tonight, roast leg of lamb using the 6 minutes per pound at 525 degrees and then turn off the oven for 2 hours, mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus with hollandaise and believe it or not individual Yorkshire puddings(a request of one of my kids, and a good one too).

And of course the Yorkshire puddings (second batch!) So good!

Thanks CC! My Emily got me this one at Home Goods.
Mar, that is one good looking dinner! Let me know if you need a popover tutorial but I am sure you could Google it! My Yorkshires are a bit more "eggy" but I've made popovers many times without the fancy pan. It's all about heating the oven and pan!

You've inspired me.  I might have to do a leg of lamb and make care packages for my mother.

Tomorrow she gets ham.

My money was on caramel not pickled peaches...until the start of the pickles peach thread. Lovely dinner Mar!

My 99 year-old Great Uncle Joey hosted Easter...and drove us home...since he broke out his homemade wine and I had my share of it.

My Great Aunt Rose said she would call the police if I took pictures of her food. She has eyes in the back of her head too.

Thank you.  The other 3 weren't nearly as nice because I tried flipping them.

Yolks broke on contact after a perfect flip.

We polished off the last of the broccoli-cheddar casserole, biscuits, and pineapple-mandarin orange salad. And ate probably as much ham as either of us will be interested in for a while, so the rest of it hit the freezer. Nine pounds of ham is a LOT, especially when there are only two people.

Is that syrup on that Croque Marlene???  Tres decadent, if so.

Those molasses cookies look awesome.  Why I don't make them except around the holidays is beyond me.

Pure maple from Vermont.

Friends on a non-food board were discussing molasses cookies.  The one who started the thread said how awful hers tasted.

I asked if she'd used Blackstrap.... she did.

Then I looked in the pantry and I had all the ingredients!  I had Blackstrap and Grandma's Old Fashion.  Don't know why or what I had the Blackstrap Molasses for.  That stuff is nasty.

Year before last I used Blackstrap for mine, and they were perfectly awful. I know it's supposed to be better, but Grandma's Robust makes them perfect. And now looking at the picture of yours, I have no idea why I only make them at Christmas, either. Perhaps I'll whip up a batch to go with my cake next week.

Dinner tonight is some kind of chicken-broccoli stir-fry with peanuts, or so I'm told. I'll figure something out.

Re:What's For Dinner TONIGHT...??? 2013/04/04 20:41:24 (permalink)
CC, those look perfect!

We had Fatburger medium burgers and fries.

They totally screwed up the order.  I ordered 2 medium, well done burgers.  When you order you go through the list of toppings.  First up... mayonnaise.  No mayonnaise on either.  Lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheese on the first one and onion on the second one

I sit at the counter and watch her make them.

First thing... spread the buns with mayonnaise.

I tell her the problem and she warms up 2 new bun tops.

She wraps them and I ask which one is the cheese burger.  I ask this because neither had cheese.  She puts a cold slice of American cheese on the proper burger and realizes (by herself) that it won't melt.  She places it quickly on the flat top and scrapes it off and puts it on the burger.  Not a problem.

I get home and with a couple of bites I realize that when she asked me...  "Well done on both"....
she thought I meant the burgers AND the fries.

She also left off the tomatoes which I didn't notice until home.

It's very convenient being right across the street.  Don't think I'll go back.

That my dear is EXACTLY why I check each and every order at a fast food place BEFORE I get home!  IF it's not right then is the time to notice it.......not after you get home~

Hold the pickles...hold the lettuce.

There was a Fatburger in Jersey City that closed a few years ago. It was odd...for some reason. I don't eat many hamburgers so I never did crack the case of why they didn't make it.

I do like In-n-Out and will be dodging & braving tumbleweeds through mountains...deserts and whatnot (they don't move when you hit the horn) to have a hamburger...next week.

I went to the Indian Cash & Carry today. I visited the Great Wall of Ramen...

I didn't buy any Ramen.

I'm on the 5 day a week C&C eating plan. I'm packing  food to take with me on my extended voyage. Crazy...but true.
