I don't think I've met a cheese I haven't liked.

Swiss for turkey, tomato, and lettuce, onion mayo, and pepper
Sharp cheddar for ham and mayo, and lettuce
Brie for a toasted sandwich with fresh tomato and onion, and olive oil

I prefer all of these on a crusty bread. No "wonder bread" here!

Yum!

I just love all cheese, even some my friends can't stand. Mostly we have cheddar, Swiss, Italian. A few goat cheeses, since we are in Tijuana almost every week, we also buy Mexican cheeses. Yum, Yum.

Dearfolk,
Now that I've discussed the idea with some other folks (we clabberated), I've reached a conclusion... any REAL cheese beats what my mother referred to as "chewing gum cheese" - those ready-sliced slices that are more guar gum than anything that any cow ever had a hand... er, hoof... in.
Favorites? Really ancient, crumbling Stilton; well-aged Vermont cheddar; Maytag's blue; homemade Mexican-style cheese; smoked Gouda; really dilly dill cheese; jalapeno Monterey jack; and one that nobody else will mention: gjetost (from Denmark).
Also cottage cheese. And liver cheese. And occasionally say cheese. But never cheese knees. Please!

Bleu Cheese on a Hamburger is my all time favorite, followed closely by provolone on any Philly style hoagie.

I finally got the toaster bags I ordered, and made my first sandwich, and Jehosophat was it ever good!! I bought some sub rolls at the Food Lion bakery, some salami, provolone and muenster cheeses from the deli, and some of that Laughing Cow swiss that Donna suggested. (She is right, that stuff is delicious). I put generous helpings of everything mentioned above inside the sub roll. Then I buttered the outside of the roll, put it in the bag, and slid it into the toaster. The result was was heavenly. Those bags are great!

To all,

When I was young my father and my uncle, during the summer, loved to eat Limburger cheese and onion (sliced), on rye bread. I tried it and it was pretty good. I love all cheeses but my two favorite sandwiches are a grilled roast beef sandwich with shredded parmigano reggiano and grilled ham and cheese with provolone as the cheese. Then of course there is always a plain American slice with Miracle Whip.
