What's Your Favorite Whiskey?

Going through five years of college, I saw many different types of cheap and expensive whiskey cross my path. Everything from Old Crow to Black Velvet. My personal favorote sipping whiskeys these day are now..in no particular order..Crown Royal, Canadian Hunter, Jim Beam and Makers Mark. What's your favorite and least-liked brand of whiskey?

    I'm w/ Leania!

Fav... Glen Levits Single Malt Scotch. I'm even a member of the Glen Levits Society. I rarely drink it though. It's way to expensive.

Glenlivet, Laphroaig, and Glenmorangie are single malt Scotch whiskys not whiskeys. You are talking a bit higher class than the stuff asked about here.

I have a bottle of Glenlivet and Wild Turkey 101 on hand right now. I am partial to the Kentucky bourbons.

Old Forester, Maker's Mark, Wild Turkey.

Jameson's 1760. And Black Bush too, but don't tell my (deceased) great-grandmother that I would allow Protestant whiskey to touch my lips.

Never cared for Scotch much, not for lack of trying.

My go-to will always be Jimmy Beam, though, the finest cheap liquor in the world. Costco always has the handles for way cheap.

$$$$ - Lagavulin 16 yr. from Islay; Blanton's or Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon; Old Potrero Rye (made by the Anchor Brewing folks). Also, anything from Tuthilltown Distillery, our Hudson Valley local producer of booze!
$$$ - Oban 14 yr. Scotch; Baker's, Booker's or Basil Hayden's Bourbon (all by Jim Beam), Jameson 1760 (hey, I was an altar boy...support the team, you know)
$$ - Pinch or Johnnie Black Scotch; Evan Williams Single Barrel, Woodford Reserve, Bulleit Bourbons.
$ - No cheap Scotch (blech); Jim Beam or Wild Turkey Bourbons; Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Remember, Scotch Whisky, everything else Whiskey.

    Cheers,

    john

Woodford Reserve is my whiskey, given the choice when others are footing the tab. When I am buying for myself, it's either Makers Mark or Jim Beam Black. I never liked the hot taste of Jack Daniels too much.

Have you ever bought Paddy in the U.S.? It's my understanding they don't send it out of Ireland, and i've never once seen it in the U.S., except in peoples homes. Whenever I know someone going to Ireland, I always ask them to get me a bottle. I have 2 glass liters, but the last bottle was plastic. I don't love it but I don't hate it. I first saw Paddy in the movie 'On the Waterfront'.

ASs for my all around favorite, I'd say Knob Creek.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Maker's Mark hands down. Also like Old Granddad, and I don't complain about Jack or Jim. Any of these in a Manhattan, and I'm content.

Talisker is my all-time favorite sipping whisky.
Had some very good Michael Collins single malt Irish just after Christmas.
In a pinch I'll drink anything but Black Prince and Virgina Gentleman.

While I'm no Irish whiskey expert, Paddy is, I believe, a mid market whiskey. I've had Bushmill Black and Jameson's premium brand (forget the name) and both were much smoother than Paddy.

In the movie Waking Ned Devine the townsfolk drank Paddy and a rugby friend from Ireland said it was a less popular brand due to its lower price and supposed lower quality (perhaps like drinking Vat 69 Scotch as opposed to Johnnie Walker Black - no offense to Vat 69 fans, if any).

I only get it as it seems unavailable outside Ireland, just as I always try to get bottles of Havana Club as they can't be had in the US.

If Paddy was good enough for John Friendly's crew in On the Waterfront, it's good enough for me.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

In my shot and a beer days it was always Old Thompson or Flieshmans.
Now I enjoy Makers Mark. I do have a regular source for Paddy's and always have a bottle or two on hand. I have a friend that visits and loves the stuff. Chow Jim

I have been sipping Canadian Windsor for several years. I do not sip anything else. I use to do Scotch but it got to tasting too much like medicine.

I enjoy my Windsor on a daily basis.

what is old #8? i know there is old #7, JD Single Barrel and Gent Jack. The last one in this are that we had was the special limited edition 1981? Gold Medal Decanter. Then there is the green label which is not available in NJ. We just got word that the Master Distiller Jimmy Bedford(i believe that is his correct name) is retiring and i think he is only the sixth one ever to have that honor. Curious as to what this new one is about?
