What's for BREAKFAST...???

What did you eat for BREAKFAST...???

Due to the popularity of "What's For DINNER ???"  I thought I'd start this thread

While dinner is for many the highlight of our daily gastronomic efforts, breakfast  is the foundation...

My breakfast today was just a simple bowl of cereal...

What did YOU have...???

I had coffee, four eggs scrambled with cheese, hash browns with onions and jalapenos, sausage patties and a slice of wheat toast.

My typical breakfast is pretty simple.  I alternate between two things:

A bowl of corn flakes, (not a Jethro Bodine sized bowl) w/1% milk, no sugar (I dislike sweetened cereal).

    or,

Three slices of whole wheat toast with a little margarine, no jam or jelly, glass of OJ.

I reserve my big breakfast meals for dinner time.

Oddly, I can participate. Usually I don't do breakfast, unless it's for dinner. But today I had leftover bacon egg and cheese breakfast casserole from Christmas morning.

Christmas morning it was the eggs, 4 of them, baked in a muffin pan lined with bacon topped with chopped red onion, chedder cheese, 375 degrees, 15 minutes. Costco croissants, toasted, irish Butter! Damn they were good. I believe I read about the recipe either here or the Wash post food section. The bacon has to be par fried to rubbery, before lining the pan, 2 slices per egg.

Breaking the fast has always been my favorite.  I usually do my own with hashbrowns, biscuits, eggs, sausage or eggs and some of Mamaw Smiths freezer strawberry jam.  I sometimes make the stone ground grits with butter and sliced tomatoes.

I share some of Michael Hoffmans fondness of the Waffle House.  I sure do enjoy their waffles, grits, bacon and eggs with toast.

M-F after an hour's drive or so to work I will get a Hardee's CFS, egg, and recently cheddar cheese biscuit.  I wish I had time for something a bit more elaborate; but I don't.

I guess I had breakfast twice today...

I had a breakfast plate for lunch at Be Bop's Diner (Ukiah, CA)...2 scrambled, 2 bacon, 2 biscuits (w/ gravy), 1 flapjack, 1 sausage patty...and a large milkshake...

If I get 5 breakfast dishes on my (loyalty) punch card I get a free milk shake...which they make with hard pack ice cream...

This mornings breakfast was several cups of hot Dr Pepper, scrambled eggs w/elk and quail sausage, some sliced tomatoes and hashbrowns. All in all not a bad start to the day.

If not cooking at home, I'm off to Jack in the Box for their Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuits. I had not eaten all day today so that was my Breakfast, Lunch and part dinner at 4 PM this afternoon! That's what I like about JITB, Breakfast available 24/7!
My 1-A place is Waffle House for the All Star -Waffle, Eggs over Easy, Grits, Sausage, Raisin Toast and coffee.
Breakfast at home could be anything in the general breakfast category. Breakfast is my favorite meal.

I like cold Dr. Pepper but just can't picture drinking it hot.  Does it go flat when it gets heated?

There's a place in Niantic, Connecticut, David John's (or at least there was such a place -- it's been a few years since I was there), where they serve a wonderful omelet filled with Italian sausage, peppers, onions and potatoes. Despite my earlier breakfast my mouth is watering thinking about it.

I have a 24 ounce ceramic mug of coffee with Big Train, no sugar added vanilla latte powder every morning if at home.

If on the road it's an Egg McMuffin with a senior coffee, two creams.  (half and half)

If away from home I love to eat out at a "sit down" restaurant.

Depending on the menu it's a waffle with 2 eggs over medium so that the whites are cooked all the way through.

If corn pancakes are on the menu they take the place of the waffle.

Next time I see mush on a menu I'll be trying it.

If when out I see corned beef hash and know it doesn't come out of a can (I eat that at home) I'll order it with crispy edges.

You now know all about my breakfast eating habits.

This morning I had a granola bar, an english muffin, and a bottle of OJ at my desk. I was going to go out for breakfast at a diner up the street from work, but had an alarm malfunction (set it wrong), and woke up too late to go and make it to work on time.

ScreamingChicken: Yes it gets pretty flat. However, I like the flavor hot or cold. Plus my beautifiul bride will not let me drink coffee anymore. And if momma ain't happy, then nobody is happy :) Used to drink coffee all day and night, never bothered me. Get called out at 2:30 am, 1st thing hit the coffee pot, didn't matter if it was old/cold. Could drink machine coffee. Roll on home fall right back to sleep.
