We're getting a Sonic close to where I live. I've never been to one. What's good?

I'm with Rouxdog on this chain. We have found the sandwiches to be stictly 'middle of the road', but the Hiway 44 sized (thats their big drinks) Slushes and Limeades are Outstanding. Especially the Cherry Limeade and slush and the Stawberry-Lime or lemon slush. If you get one between 2 and 5 PM on a weekday the cut the price in half. A real Cold-Drink Bargain.

I used to really like Sonic, my first expericence was almost 30yrs ago in Arkansas and the chili/frito pie was on the top of my fav's. Fast forward 25+yrs and they started opening Sonic's here in Florida. The first couple of visits were ok but not spectacular, they opened more and more and the quality got poorer and poorer. Just last week I pulled into the one near the HomeDepot I had just left and ordered a jalapeno cheese burger with a cherry vanilla coke and tater tots w/cheese.. the burger was... well.. barely edible hardly says it, the tots where cold and the cheese far from melted looked like a 5second trip thru the microwave.. BLAH !! the drink WAS good

I am a believer in Sonic as a "Drink Stop"--Great flavers-real juices--LOVE a Cranberry-lime slush on a hot summer day! "Happy Hour" 44ozers for cheap.Orange CREAM slush!!----my wife grabs a breakfast wrap on her way to work at the library. They do very good fried jalapenos strips every now and then that are great added to the otherwise average burgers.

I am with the rest of the folks regarding how Sonic use to be. 30 years ago they were super. Time degrades and the quality seemed to go downhill very fast. Great drinks though. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

A little side note----back during the election-when EVERYTHING was being pigeon holed as either "Red" or "Blue"--Sonic,as a corporation, was listed in the top of the Blue sector. Hope that doesn't chase you off your drink stop, Al.

Politics be Damned.. I don't care if my Cherry-Lime Slush is served at the left or the right side window...Just make sure the Lime and Cherry are strong and the cap is on tight when you pass it in to me.

If you can find a Sonic that still has the jalapeno burgers, go for them. Wonderful. The coneys are pretty good and millions seemto like the Tots.

Order me a Sante Fe grilled chicken salad, a large diet coke (love that ice), and a coconut cream pie shake to top it off. I miss the steak burgers

Seems that everything we liked 30 years ago is going down the tubes. I wonder if our changing as we age is a contibuting factor. John

On tuesdays the local sonic has 5 burgers for $5 - dressed with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo, mustard - and it's about twice the size of a mcdonald's burger. overall, about the best $1 burger around imo. our half price drinks are in the morning. i miss the chili pie and the foot longs are decent but you need to ask for mustard and onions. i can eat the corndogs from time to time.

What is the deal with the OR's? In both my work & home cities, Sonic seems to be "out" of the OR's at least 75% of the time when I request them. This surely can't be an issue nationwide ( )

In the early 70's I was stationed in Altus Oklahoma with the Air Force. The only fast food place in the town was a Sonic. In those days I used to love their chili cheese coney dogs and tater tots. They don't live up to the old standards these days, though, except for the drinks.

They make a pretty good BLT on Texas toast and the new Mago tea is good too. I also like the #1 burger w/mayo if it is fresh and hot.

We're getting a Sonic in Iowa City soon. Just reading this post it looks like they have a much more extensive menu that most fast food places.

Occasionally, the cute teenaged carhops. Varies from one outlet to the other. Eye candy only.
