LOL! Jeff Foxworthy had a calendar out last year and on the cover, featured a bunch of hillbillies at a Waffle House. The caption was, "If you've ever slow danced at the Waffle House, you might be a redneck" .....

Well, there is some good news about the franchise here in Middle Tennessee. Southeast Waffles LLC filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy earlier. The owner, Jim Shaub, had it taken away from him. MILLIONS of dollars came up missing, mostly due to Shaub's mismanagement and apparent greed. The chief accountant also abruptly quit. Six stores were closed. One in Nashville, one in Cookeville, and four in northern Alabama.
 It seems now that Waffle House Corporate is going to take over the franchise. A lot of positive changes should be forthcoming. I do know they've offered 18 million for it, so hope it is a done deal. Shaub even used Katrina as an excuse to stop paying Christmas bonuses! Katrina had NO effect at all on Southeast Waffle stores!

Jim Gaffigan is one of my favorite comics, and his Waffle House routine is a perfect example of why he is ( I still love breakfast there, though. )

Someone mentioned that breakfast is the easiest meal to cook, I agree nothing too hard about cooking it. I know a lot of people like this place and that is how I ended up eating breakfast at one. We were in Chattanooga for the FCS National Championship and a friend from the South as bragging that we just had to eat there.
First problem right from the start, no CFS. A big no no for me. I have been known to walk out of a place if they don't have CFS on the menu. But he talked me into ordering something else. Big mistake, I am sorry but it was quite possibly the worst food I have ever ate the USA. The place was also filthy which didn't help. And I don't mind filth when the food is good.
I am pretty sure I will never set foot in one again.
FYI, after the game we ate downtown at a place that was open all night on the corner of a hotel I think. Awsome food and great staff.

FCS is the smaller college football classification. It used to be 1A or 1AA.
CFS is Chicken Fried Steak.
His "Buddy" should have told him that Waffle House doesn't serve CFS, never has and probably never will. That's why they call it WAFFLE House, not CFS House! He must have been there during Daylight hours. You never notice those minor flaws at 2AM in the morning!
Don't know what he ordered, but he probably wasn't drunk enough to appreciate the Fine Cuisine offered by the Executive Chef and Gorgeous Waitresses at that fine establishment. Probably wanted Valet Parking too!

Yup my sentiments also.

as a waffle house cook we try our best to keep it presentable for all our great customers. and we are the spot light for a good show any time of the day.

There is never a dull moment at the Waffle House.

It never disappoints me.

I find Waffle Houses to be generally filthy.  I sometimes get outvoted and am forced to eat in one, and on more than a few occasions I have found the conditions to be appalling.

  Gotta tell all of you people that the "hash browns" are re hydrated shredded potatoes with no seasoning. Country Kitchen uses the same brand also. They come in gallon sized milk cartons that are about half full. Just add hot water and let sit for half a day or over night. Nothing special about that IMHO.
