If you post a menu do not make a PDF of your actual menu. Make your menu search enabled. Put the text right in the HTML web page. Text embedded in PDF files cannot be searched on the internet. I search for the pork tenderloin sandwich in different localities before I go there. If they are embedded in the PDF file I cannot find them. So, if you have a unique menu item and want people to find you for that or if you want people to know what you serve, make it search enabled.

The other thing that irks me about restaurant sites on searches is they don't often tell you the location. Web sites are international not local. You are not advertising in your local newspaper. Make your city clear on your home page and when you give an address give a proper address that can be found with a GPS input. Cute doesn't cut it on the internet. People use the internet for information.

No doubt! Menus in .pdf and .doc formats really get on ones last nerve (not to mention being a security risk). Keeping it .htm or .html is the best way to go. Another thing to research is using 'meta tags' in your pages.. Hidden, but good for search engines...

i will chime in again. hey, if you want to spend hundreds, go ahead. no offense to those out there that design, but i am terrible at computers, and i am designing my new website, for my new restaurant, as we speak. i paid ten dollars for the domain name and 7.95 a month for the site. i signed up for a 5 page site, that i completely design myself, with tons of assistance at my fingertips. kinda like having a multiple choice test versus an essay form.
i only say all this, because i feel its the best deal in town, and i want to share it with all my friends here.

Though you're still using a Template bassrocker, you have it down pact. A website is nothing more then forwarding information via the www. People looking at your site are going for nothing more then the menu, hours and location for the most part (well, in your case, maybe snoop some pictures). If they wanted to visit a fancy flash site, they'd visit www.youtube.com and see if they can find you running the smoker (which is a down the road option, but worthless IMHO). Let the product speak for itself.
