What's your favorite type of chocolate and why ?

What’s currently your favorite type of chocolate or chocolate candy and please say why, be it something that’s commercially mass produced, or a more expensive gourmet variety you love, despite it costing more, or something you might even make yourself. Of course if you have more than one to name, no problem.

I am in LOVE with the Dove dark chocolates. The creamy smooth texture is unlike any other chocolate I'v had... even better than Godiva and the other high end chocolatiers I've tried.

When it comes to chocolate I'm a bittersweet fan, and have been since I was a little kid. Why? Because that's what I like.

I also like the DARK chocolate & bittersweet. Don't care Godvia at all. I like a plain chocolate no soft centers please nuts and carmel are OK. Just love a dark chocolate truffle with dusting of dark cocoa

I love dark chocolate, the bittersweeter the better....

The late Laurie Colwin wrote about her sister, a confirmed chocolate addict, that she ate any chocolate at all except milk chocolate, which she thinks "is for twinks and wimps."

Another dark chocolate lover here. I especially like the combination of dark chocolate and fruit. There are two candy shops in my area where I can buy their own made d.c. covered orange, raspberry and strawberry creams and jellies.

I think Dove is wonderful too. Next time I am in Vegas, I am going to buy some of the Ethel M hi end chocolates, having only recently found out that they are a Mars product too. If Dove, at mass market prices is so good, I can only guess that the Ethel M, will be the best that I have ever had. I like the Godiva and Lake Champlain chocolates, as well as the local Heberts, but none so far, IMO, is worth the extra money over Dove. The new Dove cookies are not bad either

I am a BIG fan of dark chocolate!!! Lately i have been into a wonderful brand made by a local tribe here in Oklahoma00Bedre Chocolates---fabulous stuff and although when i first saw then i thaought-"tjois is stupid!"- i must admit i am addicted to a product of theirs---chocolate covered potato chips!!! Thry are wonderful!!!---and available on line i believe.

I go from opposite ends of the spectrum - I love white chocolate and I love dark chocolate. Not a big milk chocolate fan.

I really enjoy "See's" brand - they have unusual fillings - nuts and nougats are great! We don't get that brand in our area - but some of my company's reps from the south send them in around the Holidays..

at the holidays See's does a mincemeat filled chocolate that is to die for!!! When i was in Californ ia i would show up the the local store the day it went on sale(in November) and stopped by twice a week till they ran out---they stop selling it at the end of January i belive --that and their candied ginger chocolates!!!!

See's cause i lived in CA growing up and Lake Champlain becuase we vacationed in VT last fall and got hooked on the chocolates!!

I am a Milk Chocolate fan myself. want some crazy chocolate taste get yourself a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Therapy. It is off the Charts. I tried it on the factory tour. Other than that I love good fresh milk chocolate carmels, there is a place in Bennington VT, called the Vermont Confectionary on route 7 headed into Bennington on the left hand side if your driving west to east from NYS. It's an old barn with Silo I love that place they also have Ice Cream from a local Dairy farmer that kills.

Right now I'm overdosing on dark chocolate Star Wars M&M's. By the time I heard they were being produced a lot of the local stores were out, so when I found one that still had them I bought about ten bags!

The Dark Side Peanut M&M's are good. They need to make more.

I haven't tried Dove chocolate on its own but recently had a Dove Triple Chocolate ice cream bar and it was delicious.

I love the dark ephemere truffles from Dilettante in Seattle.

I dont really eat all that much chocolate.. But if I have my choice walking down the candy isle, I'll pick the white swiss made variety.. Though actually any variety will work when the craving hits..

Hello all. I love milk chocolate. Everynight at work I have a tomato sandwich. Every bite of the sandwich is accompanied with a bit of a chocolate bar and/or potato chip. The combination of chocolate and tomato, as well as chocolate and a salty potato chip is wonderous. Try chocolate and a peanut butter and bananas sandwich...ahh so good. Hershey bars with or without almonds are joyous. M&M's are a snacker's delight, but Peanut Chews made by Goldbergs in Pa. are so great if you are a nibbler like I am. For a well balanced diet and to end a hunger pain, I like Baby Ruth. European chocolates are in a world of their own. The more I have indulged, the more I appreciate the Old World. Ghiradelli products are a good and easy product to find and start the chocolate voyage back to the Old World. Take care.

My husband was diagnosed as border line diabetic in April so we started doing the low carb thing then and I have not had a candy bar in almost 4 months. I would love to have a Mr. Goodbar or just any candy bar for that matter.

Twink and wimp here! I love milk chocolate and although I wouldn't turn down Cadbury's, my favorite would be Hershey's, kisses, bar-- with or without almonds-- and any candy bar (or M&M's) that is milk chocolate based, which many seem to be.

Poor Mr. Diner-Lover prefers dark chocolate, and he was so happy when M&M's came out with their dark chocolate "special edition", but it seemed to only last a few weeks, and he was in mourning for a while when we'd go to the WaWa candy counter and he couldn't find them. But recently, Dove has come out with a dark chocolate bar that he almost always goes for now when we're getting candy.

I've only had one of these, because I know it would be very easy to quite literally eat myself sick on them, but...Lake Champlain Chocolates in Burlington VT has recently introduced what they call a salt caramel. Just as it sounds, it's a chocolate-enrobed soft caramel with a heavy pinch of salt in the filling. And it's just unimaginably yummy.

Other than that, I'm a big fan of Harbor Sweets' Harbor Lights, which are dark chocolate with a raspberry/cranberry filling. Their toffee, the Sweet Sloop, is also pretty great. I'm all about any hard toffee, really.

I am a major Fannie May fanatic, because of the added cost of shipping I usually limit my consumtion to the Holidays. I opt for the Colonial Assortment as it has several of my favorites; Pixies, Toffees, and Trinidads. Also get a small box of Mint Meltaways
(Heavenly) When they closed a couple of years ago I went into a deep depression, but happily they were purchased and have re-opened including the online store.

Chocolate is a funny thing with me. I am rather fussy about it. Dark does it for me. Favorites include Lindt's 80%, Newman's Organic Dark with Orange and Green & Black's Dark with Orange. One quality bar will last me a week or more, but it is nice to have a quality treat on hand.

Can you tell I think orange is the perfect foil for dark chocolate?

I grew up eating dark chocolate. It was my father's favorite & now is mine. I agree the new dove dark chocolate is good. Has anybody out there tried the new Dove ice cream in pints?? It has a topping of chocolate ganache that you have to break through to get to the ice cream. Then no matter what the flavor, there are chunks of chocolate all thought the ice cream,

I love dark chocolate of most kinds. It's funny. I used to hate it. Tastes change. I love any form of dark chocolate and raspberry. Dove is my favorite for plain. I still like some milk chocolate, like the Butterfinger Crunch bar and Crunchie from England.

I used to LOVE dark chocolate when I was little, which is odd, because I find that most young children hate it, and grow to like it as adults. I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be. Although when it comes to chocolate, I'm not very picky! ;) Though lately, I've become obsessed with white chocolate.
