Where Did They Go?

For the past few years I've waited anxiously for Christmas 'cause that's when M&Ms do their mint M&Ms, but alas this year I couldn't find them anywhere. I wonder if anyone else likes them as much as I do, and also had trouble finding them this year. Maybe it was just my area. With my luck they've probably discontinued them. Wish they'd do them throughout the year, but if it's only at Christmas that's fine with me as long as I can still get them. Thanks for your help. Delamere

Yup, they looked just like the regular M&Ms except they were red, white and green I think. Really yummy---and I miss them!

Tiki, I just went to the M&M website and they're still there. Here's the link. http://us.mms.com/us/baking/holidays/products/ . I also wrote them and asked them if they are still doing them since we didn't get them in our area this year, and would they also consider doing them at other times of the year. I'll let you know what they say.

Adjudicator, LOL---well let me say I remember the brown M&Ms better than I do Van Halen. Only thing I remember him for is being married to what's her name......was it Valerie Bertinelli? So guess I need the answer!

Hmm, I saw the mint M+Ms in supermarkets here (in Massachusetts) before the holiday. I like them and also the "special edition" mint Hershey's Kisses (with nifty silver & green checkerboard wrappers!) I, too, wonder about the light tan M+Ms. Where did they go?

quote: IIRC, they had a rider in their contract that stipulated that M & M's be provided in the backstage buffet, but that all of the light brown candies had to be removed. Failure to adhere to this stipulation usually wound up with the destruction of the buffet and much of the backstage area.

Hi Spaniel, Thanks for your reply. That's good to know that they were in your area. We live in a very small coastal area of northern California, and they may not have sold that well in the past few years so probably weren't reordered for this season. Don't know why cause I sure bought up a goodly supply---LOL! I'll talk to my local grocery store manager and make sure this doesn't happen again next year. Thanks for the tip about the kisses......didn't see them either, but then again I was ONLY looking for those darn mint M&Ms.

In Van Halen's defense -- and I can't believe I'm defending these guys, who I think were total hacks -- the "no brown M&M's" clause was intended half as a joke and half as a test, to see if anyone was actually reading the rider. There's an amusing story about an early '80s arena tour where it turned out that another band...I want to say it was the Cars, but I truly don't remember...ended up playing the same places Van Halen had just played just a couple days later. So in their rider, they demanded the brown M&M's that had been removed from Van Halen's stash! The Smoking Gun has an amusing section on band riders. My favorite one is the Foo Fighters', which is actually quite funny. My favorite line is probably "Dave loves stinky cheese!" Oh, and the mint M&Ms made it to Boston -- the Target in Watertown had a ton of them at 75% off the last time I was in there.

"Oh, and the mint M&Ms made it to Boston -- the Target in Watertown had a ton of them at 75% off the last time I was in there." Great!! Shame I don't live in Watertown. At 75% off I could have squirreled in enough to last me for the next couple of Christmases!
