Next time I'll order a side of potato pancakes just for you.

Yes, Mad Anthony's was supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of a Harmonite brother and sister.  There were reports of footsteps on the cellar stairs, doors opening and closing, chandeliers swinging and a cold chill experienced by workers and patrons.  I pretty much chalked it up to too much bier.

Not a restaurant but if you are going to be in Milwaukee during late August, you should check out GermanFest.

It is one in our summer-long series of music and ethnic festivals.

Gemütlichkeit!

20+ years ago I used to frequently travel 145 miles to Nashville just to eat at the Gersthaus.  Then about 10 years ago or so, the Gersthaus acquired a sister restaurant right across the river from me in Evansville, Indiana.  Those 145 mile trips were instantly reduced to 10.

Food tastes also changed, German food was deemed to be too heavy and didn’t sit well in the new atmosphere of health-consciousness and fitness. The City is much poorer for the loss.

Add another lost German restaurant in Queens New York City.  Chalet Alpina on Metropolitan in Forest Hills is closed. Auf Wiedersehen!

The Bavaria Restaurant in Kirby, east of San Antonio gets very good reviews. There are three in New Braunfels:
Oma's Haus,,,Friesenhaus,,,and don't recall the name of the third one. All have gotten mixed reviews. Like to try the Bavaria in Kirby as it always seems to get praise for the food.
