Where to Dine in '39 Wed, 09/10/03 6:32 PM (permalink)
I was looking through some of my food history books and rediscovered one of my favorites. It's called "Where to Dine in '39", published in 1939, and includes a review and recipe from more than 200 restaurants in New York City and the boroughs. Just for fun, if you list any of your current favorite NYC restaurants, I'll check them out and post the reviews, which are not very long.

Although it's no longer open, here's one:

KIT KAT CLUB - 152 E 55th St - Tel: ELdorado 5-0543

Tab;e d'hote: Dinner $1.50 up
Entertainment: Colored floor show
Minimum $1.50, $2.50 Sat. and holidays

Red hot sepian show that out-Harlems Harlem. There isn't much restraint and there are a lot of goings on. HOT DIGGITY

(The recipe from Chef de cuisine, Joe de Pass, is for meatballs.)
