I am going to take the Grand Canyon Railwa excursion in mid-February. An overnight in Williams is required so, I already Roadfood's "Old Smoky's" for a superlative breakfast but where should the four of us go for dinner?

My partner and I did that last June. I was uniformly disappointed in the meals at the buffet restaurant that's owned by the railway/hotel in Williams. However, it soon will be time to make your reservations at the dining room in the El Tovar Hotel at the South Rim. They take those reservations from non-guests up to 30 days in advance. As a San Franciscan, I was mightily impressed with our meal there, and found the high price was still a good value considering the high quality. Hope you will be at the South Rim long enough to enjoy! Also, are you riding in the Vista-Dome at least one way on the train? THAT was a blast!

Rod's Steakhouse is a Route 66 classic in Williams. Not for dinner necessarily but take a ride to Seligman to the Sno-cap while you're in that neck of the woods.

Sounds like your taking the train, which is a great ride. They got 2 feet of snow this week. Sedona is only an hour south, which has a great Cafe on 89-just down from Bashas grocery store. They offer over 100 kinds of Omelets. Have fun & watch out for the train robbers.

Oh, dear, those "train-robbers." Be sure to have a few singles to bribe them to leave you alone. Hokey stuff like that is not to my liking.
