I'm going to Merritt Island to photograph the birds, spending one night in Tituville. Any recommendations for an excellent meal there? Open to all types of food. Fussy about hygiene.

You cannot do better than to go to Dixie Crossroads for their rock shrimp which are wonderful. They also have other shrimp which are in season...........this place is great and you will love it! Be prepared for a long wait at prime time.

In 2000, I visited a retired friend in Cocoa Beach and for dinner I opted for fried seafood (John had a favorite place for fried and a favorite one for broiled). We drove northward (I think north) on A1A toward Cape Canaveral just a few miles. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the restaurant name and could not find them with an internet search.

The place is memorable to me for the excellent plate of fish I ordered. They had AYCE specials where you can choose between 2 kinds of seafood from several choices. I would eat there frequently if I lived in the area.

Here are clues that can get you there:

      - It's a bona fide seafood restaurant, and is very, very popular. We were there on a Monday night and had a short wait.

      - There is a partially wrecked or partially buried rowboat displayed in front - kind of a signature landscaping theme and very visible.

      - Basically, there's just one long main drag on that stretch of barrier island, and I think it's on that main drag.

You can find it; I know you can.

Anyone know the name of this place?

The hush puppies at Dixie Crossroads are the best I've ever had. It's worth the wait.

www.pinedacrossing.com Great place our absolute favorite! It's just south of Merritt Isl. in Rockledge FL on RTE 1. Gourmet food in what appears to be a "hole in the wall"! Have the rack of lamb you won't regret it! Dixie Crossroads is great if you can get there when Rock Shrimp is in season!"Grill's" in Port Canaveral is excellent for breakfast and lunch!Great homemade Polish food: "The Bellwood" on RTE 1 just south of Titusville! Make sure you get to the "Merritt Island Refuge" for birding! The drive (loop) is fantastic! Saw my very first Roseate Spoonbill there! I've tried to send this message 3 different times! Hope it makes it this time! Happy eating! KokomoJoe
