Where to eat near MetLife Stadium in New Jersey? Sat, 11/23/13 9:56 AM (permalink)
I'm heading to the Raiders/Jets game in two weeks to hang with the Raider Nation and hopefully meet some great Jets fans. Everything is pretty much planned out at this point, but Friday night. I'm just wondering if there's a good pizza shop, deli, or diner near by. I would hate to go up there an not try out something that the locals enjoy. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure I'll be the first of many to say here.

I'm partial to Segovia. It's not a diner, pizza shop, or deli, but a very good Portuguese Restaurant.  Portuguese food is very popular with the locals in the towns surrounding the Meadowlands.

It's only about 5 minutes from the Meadowlands, at least when there's no game that day.

One thing, it's not really a Sports-oriented place if that's important to you, unless the sport in question is soccer.

I've tried it; really nice. One proviso though: Their portions are HUGE, and they do allow sharing. Consider it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both places sound like a good choice. I haven't tried much  Portuguese food, but it's about time to give it it a try. I also want one of those Rippers. I've think I've seen that place on TV before.

Try Harold's Deli, I believe it's on 17 across from the Measowlands. Not as good as Harold's in Edison, but still good. Harold's of Lyndhurst.

Re: Harold's of Lyndhurst: not only are they inferior, at least from my own personal experience, they are cheats as well.

Harold's sounds interesting. Even if it is inferior, I am willing to bet that it's still better than what most offer where I live in Virginia. We have some great Deli shops, but they're few and far between. Thanks for the suggestion and the heads up guys.
