You're right, how do you stop Tebow on a sweep from the 2 with a pulling guard.  Any hole between the snap and the pylon, he's through it like quicksilver or runs over a free safety or linebacker.  Who, on the move, is going to stop that "load" running with a head of steam at the pylon?  Pop Warner lives!

I'm surprised more teams don't use it in situations where they can catch an opponent off guard!
It's the best power play in football! Strikes fear into the hearts of opponents!

They have to actually make it to the red zone before that can happen.

That's Sanchez' job.

Probably because they're not willing to risk the QB in situations like that, because if you truly want to catch the opponent off-guard it has to be with a QB who isn't known for his ball-carrying skills.  Most NFL teams have multiple options to choose from in that situation and the overwhelming majority of them don't expose the QB, plus backside pursuit in the NFL is quicker than it is in the college game.  And speaking of the college game...

...Tebow running over LBs can't be regularly counted on at this level.  They're bigger, faster, and stronger than those he usually played against at Florida, and they have bigger, faster, and stronger friends waiting to deliver the 2nd and 3rd hits (and cause the obligatory Tebow fumble).  When he comes in with the ball in the red zone he's going to be the guy the defense keys on until he proves he can consistently find other ways to get the ball into the end zone, and with the Jets' current receiving corps that could be a tough job.

The Jets play the Ravens in week 4.  Think Ray Lewis might be looking forward to it?

Brad-
I don't think the schedule is out yet for this year.

There is some talk around here that the Steelers might be the opponent for the Giants for the prime time opening week game.  I wonder what Michael Hoffman and his new bride would think about that!

Even Tebow can throw the ball 10 yards with accuracy.  His being a First & Goal Specialist will be, IMHO, far more effective than the "modern approach" of "default passing" deep into the Red Zone.  Yes, Tebow will not be able to run over every LB.  But, he will have at least three chances.  Wait 'n see.

Could it be the Jets think Tebow might be better than Sanchez and worth a 4th round draft choice? If not, did they need to sell season tickets? Or, have they felt slighted in the New York publicity market because of the Giants' success? Tebow will at least fix that for them. I doubt they want the luxury of carrying a QB just for goal line stands.

Personally, I don't think they have given up on Tebow as a starting QB. He has one thing a lot of quarterbacks in the league don't have and that is the winning intangible. In his whole career he has always found a way to win. If they can straighten out his passing game...

My bad.  I Googled for 2012 but didn't notice that the site I selected displayed last season's schedule.

True, that's all we can do and it'll be interesting to see how the Jets use him.  But last season he completed 58% of his pass attempts of 1-10 yards and compared to the rest of the league that's low; even your old pal Jason Campbell was higher at 65% and 2 rookies (Dalton and Ponder) were over 60%.  Unfortunately there's no further situational breakdown but if he was at 58% overall I can't imagine the compression of a red zone defense making it better, plus a short field can call for more quick reads and last year he had some problems there, too (but that's certainly not uncommon with young QBs).

On the plus side, Tony Sparano was brought in to strengthen the running game and that would seem to work in Tebow's favor.  Then again, that's what RBs are for and if the Jets are going to run him out there to take some hits every time they're in a 1st-and-goal situation that's not going to help him improve as a QB.

Davydd: "I doubt they want the luxury of carrying a QB just for goal line stands".

Tebow plays offense; the opposition is trying to "make the stand".  How many times did Sanchez get the team "down there" only to misfire a few times and have to settle for a field goal?  Tebow is going to be The Four Point Difference Maker

Screaming Chicken, I see Tebow running far more than passing in that situation.  Wait and behold the power of the single wing with second string guards and tackles on the ends instead of receivers.

As a "specialist" Tebow won't have to worry about "becoming a better QB" any more than a placekicker has to worry about becoming a "better free safety".

I was in the car when Peyton spoke at his last Colts news conference.  He choked up & I sobbed.  Tears running down my cheeks, got my phone wet talking to my husband.  Peyton means a lot to the Indy area.  Not just football, but in everything he has done.  I realize that not signing him was the best business decision, but boy it hurts.

It saved the "civic minded"" Irsay (son of the "class act" who stole the Colts from Baltimore in the middle of the night in Mayflower moving vans) $28,000,000.00 + Peyton's salary.  I know he will put that money to "good use".

Anyone here want to bet that Tebow will be responsible for more Jets 2012 T.D.'s (running + passing) than Sanchez?

I wouldn't take that bet. the difference is that Tebow wills it to happen, Sanchez doesn't. Tebow is committed to make it happen.

I understand that a lot of women are going to be upset that Peyton is leaving Indy.  He apparently got around with the ladies.

The Saints are a mess!
They should call the NFL office and just tell them they'll be sitting out this season.
No Head Coach.
An Interim Head Coach that can't coach for 6 games.
An 84 year old owner that just bought a new toy, so he's not paying attention to his old toy.
A QB that's unhappy & looks like won't be participating in off season workouts.
The future availability of some players pending sanctions from Roger "The Terminator" Goodell.
What's next? Another Hurricane?

Do you think the Jets picked up Tebow just to trade him to some other team for Draft Picks or Moving up in the Draft??????
He may never wear a Jets Jersey and if you bought one, you have a collectors item!!!

That's ridiculous.  The Jets already gave up 4th and 6th round picks for Tebow, plus paid 2.53 million of a salary bonus owed by the Broncos.  Tebow is a back-up.  Why in the hell would they trade draft picks for someone so that they could take on the risk of trading the same guy for similar draft picks, and lose two-and-a-half million dollars in the process?  Only the Raiders would be stupid enough to try something like that, and even they're smarter than that.

All I care about is who the giants will draft. I am hoping that they are able to get a good o-lineman, cb, and wr...hopefully sanu from Rutgers. Probably going to get a late round Rb and d-lineman too

Biggest lie of the 2012-13 Season thus far:
Sanchez said. "So, he's been a great addition so far. I'm thrilled to work with him." (Speaking about Tebow)

What stupid move will Jerry Jones make in this year's draft?

Are the Cowgirls still paying for the wonderous Roy Williams?

How long a "rap sheet" will the Cowgirls' first pick have?

At least this year it will be impossible for Jones to "top" little Danny Snyder for foolishness.

Today I realize how much I miss the NFL draft starting on Saturdays. I am exhausted and probably won't be awake for the Giants pick. I also miss having draft day bbq's where I would get together with friends, cook up some good food, drink beer, and laugh at the Jets fans getting mad at their draft picks.

Well at least the NFL is getting rid of the pro bowl.

Did your team draft the position/player you expected in the first round? I honestly wasn't expecting the giants to draft a Rb first round. Last Rb I remember them taking in the 1st round was Ron Dayne. If you don't remember him, there is a reason.

Sure, I remember Ron Dayne:  he did very well at Wisconsin.

Back in the '60's the Steelers got burned by drafting Bob Ferguson #1 overall.  Applying that harsh lesson they were one of the founders of the scouting combine and have done pretty well since by quietly drafting talent instead of "names" or "reputations".

The Vikings traded down one position from 3rd to 4th and picked up three additional late round draft picks for doing so and still got the player they were going to take picking 3rd in Kalil.

OMG, the one and only owner/director of player personnel, Jerry Jones, does pull a stunner - trades up to take a kid with the lowest Wonderlic ever:  a 4 (out of 50; 10 = "barely literate").  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1103/nfl-memorable-wonderlic-scores/content.1.html .

Maybe Jerry will tax a few IQ points from his "genius" Princeton Alum head coach and redistribute them to this kid who is already an early favorite for the Adam "PacMan" Jones "Citizen-of-the-Year" award.
