Andrew Luck is changing his name to "No Luck"
All other NFL players will now be know as their names initials only, RGIII, RDC, etc
Roger Godell, (Spelling correct) will anounce that a pre-season game will be played in Iceland in 2015.
Las Vegas gives the Jets 2 chances to win the Super Bowl---Slim & None!
Los Angeles won't get a team for 3 more years.
Brats will sell for $12 each at Lambeau next year.
Tailgating will be banned at all games and the league will collapse after the 6th game of the year due to poor attendence and lack of interest. Coors, Bud and Miller beer companies file Bankruptcy

The RGIII trade will have NFL historians searching for new descriptions.  As the Herschel Walker trade is known as "The Great Train Robbery", perhaps this will be "The Brinks Job".

Or maybe Danny "the midget megalomaniac" Snyder and his boot-licking lackeys will become known as "The Gang who Couldn't Shoot Straight" (if they aren't already).

In any case, RGIII will make Redskins fans forget Desmond Howard (they wasted only one #1 on him).  He'll be the second coming of Kordell "Slash" Stewart.

First and goal, I'd definitely prefer Tebow to Sanchez (or to most other QB's in the NFL).

For the other 90 yards I'd prefer Sanchez (or most other QB's in the NFL).

Talk about your "role player":  that's a helluva "role" to be able to play.  Tebow has found his NFL niche.

Smart move by the Jets, especially for just a 4th. round pick.

Nothing against my fellow Pittsburgher, Ditka.  But he is no Dick LeBeau when it comes to the "X's & O's".  Never has been.  As a leader and disciplinarian he has had some fine moments.  Maybe that's just what the Saints need at this point: discipline and to let Brees call his own plays.  Just keep Mike away from personnel decisions, otherwise they may as well hire Mike Singletary to drop his pants (not to confuse this with the 3" - 6" difference between Manning & Elway).

Once upon a time long, long, ago there was a season when neither the
Packers nor the Bears made the post season playoffs. It seemed so
unusual, that the management of both teams got together and decided that
there should be some sort of competition between the two teams because
of their great rivalry. So, they decided on a week long ice fishing
competition. The team that catches the most fish at the end of the week
wins. So, on a very cold day on a northern Wisconsin lake they began
their contest. At the end of the first day, after eight hours of
fishing, the Packers had caught 100 fish and the Bears had 0. By the end
of the second day the Packers had caught 200 fish and the Bears 0. That
evening the Bears coach got his team together and said, "I suspect some
kind of cheating is taking place". The next morning he dressed one of
his players in green and gold and sent him over to the Packer camp to
act as a spy. At the end of the day he came back to report to the coach.
The coach asked "Well, how about it, are they cheating?" "They sure
are," the player reported, "They're cutting holes in the ice".

Tebow to the Jets will be a disaster! 1st, that locker room already has enough controversy. It doesn't need anymore. 2nd, Sanchez has enough confidence issues as it is without having to look over his shoulder all year. The NY media is going to be very unkind to both Qb's and that is putting it politely. Also, an interesting tidbit I.saw yesterday, last time the giants won the superbowl the Jets signed Favre in the offseason. This year, tebow. We are starting to see a pattern.

As for the Saints, well we will see how bad it is when the player penalties come down, but right now they won't have both their headcoach and OC for the first 6 games until the OC is reinstated. This is the curse of the superbowl hosting city. Much like the maddened curse, every year since I believe 2002 a major injury to the team's Qb has happened (peyton this past season, romo the season before) this year the SB in NO and instead of brees going down the whole team is.

I think the rams are the ones really hurt by this if they didn't know Williams was being investigated. I think they should be compensated the rams lost draft pick.

In all this Denver going ons there is a quarterback, Adam Webber, who may come out smelling like a rose. He is a University of Minnesota alum undrafted and placed on Denver's practice squad last year as the 4th QB. Now he is the only other QB on Denver's roster. Maybe Denver is high on him. Webber played 4 years for a really lousy head coach at Minnesota and had a different offensive coordinator every year. At times he showed great talent and set many Gopher passing records but was hampered his whole collegiate career in consistent development.

The more I think about it, the Jets pulled a genius move by getting Tebow.  He may invent a new "specialty": the 1st. & goal QB

He can be an inside runner, a "sneaker", an outside runner, a lead blocker, a wildcat faker, and even an occasional passer.  He gives the defense so much more "to think about" deep in the Red Zone.

How many QB's can run over a linebacker?  How many QB's would even try?  This could be as revolutionary as a kicker who could dependably hit from 70.  Truly, the Red Zone is, and has been, Tebow's "comfort zone".

You're right, how do you stop Tebow on a sweep from the 2 with a pulling guard.  Any hole between the snap and the pylon, he's through it like quicksilver or runs over a free safety or linebacker.  Who, on the move, is going to stop that "load" running with a head of steam at the pylon?  Pop Warner lives!

Probably because they're not willing to risk the QB in situations like that, because if you truly want to catch the opponent off-guard it has to be with a QB who isn't known for his ball-carrying skills.  Most NFL teams have multiple options to choose from in that situation and the overwhelming majority of them don't expose the QB, plus backside pursuit in the NFL is quicker than it is in the college game.  And speaking of the college game...

...Tebow running over LBs can't be regularly counted on at this level.  They're bigger, faster, and stronger than those he usually played against at Florida, and they have bigger, faster, and stronger friends waiting to deliver the 2nd and 3rd hits (and cause the obligatory Tebow fumble).  When he comes in with the ball in the red zone he's going to be the guy the defense keys on until he proves he can consistently find other ways to get the ball into the end zone, and with the Jets' current receiving corps that could be a tough job.

Even Tebow can throw the ball 10 yards with accuracy.  His being a First & Goal Specialist will be, IMHO, far more effective than the "modern approach" of "default passing" deep into the Red Zone.  Yes, Tebow will not be able to run over every LB.  But, he will have at least three chances.  Wait 'n see.

Re:Where's The NFL Chatter (2012-13 Version)? 2012/03/23 12:23:42
Could it be the Jets think Tebow might be better than Sanchez and worth a 4th round draft choice? If not, did they need to sell season tickets? Or, have they felt slighted in the New York publicity market because of the Giants' success? Tebow will at least fix that for them. I doubt they want the luxury of carrying a QB just for goal line stands.

Personally, I don't think they have given up on Tebow as a starting QB. He has one thing a lot of quarterbacks in the league don't have and that is the winning intangible. In his whole career he has always found a way to win. If they can straighten out his passing game...

True, that's all we can do and it'll be interesting to see how the Jets use him.  But last season he completed 58% of his pass attempts of 1-10 yards and compared to the rest of the league that's low; even your old pal Jason Campbell was higher at 65% and 2 rookies (Dalton and Ponder) were over 60%.  Unfortunately there's no further situational breakdown but if he was at 58% overall I can't imagine the compression of a red zone defense making it better, plus a short field can call for more quick reads and last year he had some problems there, too (but that's certainly not uncommon with young QBs).

On the plus side, Tony Sparano was brought in to strengthen the running game and that would seem to work in Tebow's favor.  Then again, that's what RBs are for and if the Jets are going to run him out there to take some hits every time they're in a 1st-and-goal situation that's not going to help him improve as a QB.

Davydd: "I doubt they want the luxury of carrying a QB just for goal line stands".

Tebow plays offense; the opposition is trying to "make the stand".  How many times did Sanchez get the team "down there" only to misfire a few times and have to settle for a field goal?  Tebow is going to be The Four Point Difference Maker

Screaming Chicken, I see Tebow running far more than passing in that situation.  Wait and behold the power of the single wing with second string guards and tackles on the ends instead of receivers.

As a "specialist" Tebow won't have to worry about "becoming a better QB" any more than a placekicker has to worry about becoming a "better free safety".

They should call the NFL office and just tell them they'll be sitting out this season.
No Head Coach.
An Interim Head Coach that can't coach for 6 games.
An 84 year old owner that just bought a new toy, so he's not paying attention to his old toy.
A QB that's unhappy & looks like won't be participating in off season workouts.

That's ridiculous.  The Jets already gave up 4th and 6th round picks for Tebow, plus paid 2.53 million of a salary bonus owed by the Broncos.  Tebow is a back-up.  Why in the hell would they trade draft picks for someone so that they could take on the risk of trading the same guy for similar draft picks, and lose two-and-a-half million dollars in the process?  Only the Raiders would be stupid enough to try something like that, and even they're smarter than that.

Biggest lie of the 2012-13 Season thus far:
Sanchez said. "So, he's been a great addition so far. I'm thrilled to work with him." (Speaking about Tebow)

So what are the Minn/LA Vikings going to do with the 3rd pick in the draft?

What stupid move will Jerry Jones make in this year's draft?

Are the Cowgirls still paying for the wonderous Roy Williams?

How long a "rap sheet" will the Cowgirls' first pick have?

At least this year it will be impossible for Jones to "top" little Danny Snyder for foolishness.

Today I realize how much I miss the NFL draft starting on Saturdays. I am exhausted and probably won't be awake for the Giants pick. I also miss having draft day bbq's where I would get together with friends, cook up some good food, drink beer, and laugh at the Jets fans getting mad at their draft picks.

Well at least the NFL is getting rid of the pro bowl.

Did your team draft the position/player you expected in the first round? I honestly wasn't expecting the giants to draft a Rb first round. Last Rb I remember them taking in the 1st round was Ron Dayne. If you don't remember him, there is a reason.

Sure, I remember Ron Dayne:  he did very well at Wisconsin.

Back in the '60's the Steelers got burned by drafting Bob Ferguson #1 overall.  Applying that harsh lesson they were one of the founders of the scouting combine and have done pretty well since by quietly drafting talent instead of "names" or "reputations".

The Vikings traded down one position from 3rd to 4th and picked up three additional late round draft picks for doing so and still got the player they were going to take picking 3rd in Kalil.

OMG, the one and only owner/director of player personnel, Jerry Jones, does pull a stunner - trades up to take a kid with the lowest Wonderlic ever:  a 4 (out of 50; 10 = "barely literate").  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1103/nfl-memorable-wonderlic-scores/content.1.html .

Maybe Jerry will tax a few IQ points from his "genius" Princeton Alum head coach and redistribute them to this kid who is already an early favorite for the Adam "PacMan" Jones "Citizen-of-the-Year" award.
