Yes, the Eastwood commercial was a political Rorschach Test.

Some thought "halftime" referred to halfway through eight years of the present administration.  Others thought it meant that it may be time for a new "QB".

The best take on it was Jay Leno's:  "Yes, it's halftime.  We're down $15 trillion and China has the ball!"

His comment made me chuckle and resolve not to think about it too much.

And didn't the "little town that could" do a great job with hosting the festivities?

I heard great praise for the fact that "everything was in walking distance".  That kind of "praise" is typically used by sportswriters when they describe jockies as "great athletes" and talk about flyweights (who couldn't take your mother-in-law) as "pound for pound ... ".

Evidently Indy has grown since the last time I flew over.  It now has two buildings with more than 30 floors!  The third tallest has 17 and the fourth tallest is the Scottish Rite Cathedral!

Every event was in a tent!  Rooms at the Day's Inn were going for $1,100/night!  I'll bet the Denny's ran out of "Grand Slams"!  Now that's a party city  town village!

I know Indiana considers itself to be a hotbed of basketball.  Is that why their stadium looks like a field house?

At least Indy smells better than Jacksonville.

Texas jealousy has no bounds.

Further "evidence" that I just "call 'em as I see 'em":

Texans have a time-consuming method of rendering a cheap cut of beef tender enough for humans to eat, thus saving it from canine consumption.

And the process is labor & wood intensive enough to sell "the product" for $9.99/lb (more if you're at a place with a "reputation").

They call that process "barbeque".

I call it skillful t*rd-polishing!

BTW: Shined up real good with lots of wood smoke, I enjoy my brisket with Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce.

The different cameras were neat you had a choice of 4:  Cable (which I assumed
was the overhead), sideline view, endzone view and the main camera (regular view).  That would be neat to hook up to the TV and have that choice.

Jay Leno had more to say about the Halftime extraviganza...they put up a still frame of the chick "flipping the bird"...but Jay's comment was about the provocative poses the female dancers were doing: legs spread and pelvis pumping while bent over backwards...

The "Cable cams" are a new way to get exciting shots...almost a "You Are There" kind of perspective...sometimes you'd see the cable cam in the shot of another camera...

I just saw a piece on PBS that the USAF Thunderbirds also now offer multi-cam views online as well during their airshows...

Remember the "old days" when concert goers would "flick their Bic" and light flames in a darkened audience...???  I understand there is now a virtual app that is a picture of a lit lighter...I guess that was what we were seeing in the audience...???  (I don't have a "smart phone") ...

Way back in the old days...there was only 1 baseball team in SF...the Giants (The A's were still in Kansas)...and we'd quietly snicker at the folks who'd go to the ballgame and listen to the game via a local AM radio station on transister radios...

I think we're on the threshold of the same thing with smart phones, multi-cams, and online streaming, at sports games more and more...although unless there is a decicated wi-fi feed at the stadiums with lots of capacity, folks might get a bit of signal lag (latency) via the public internet services...the advantage is if you have crappy seats or the play action is not near your seat, you can watch the playback(s), slow-motion, and commentaries, and possibly those often talked about expensive tv commercials...

Yeah, I guess y'all in Noo Yawk are having one hell of a celebration, with a ticker tape parade in NYC...that's cool...the 49'ers will still be here...we had our time in the spotlight a couple of years ago when the SF Giants won the WS...we're patient...it'll happen again for us...

BackRhodes, You have to keep up. Smartphones now have LTE (4G) speed cellular service with live streaming that is faster than most wifi now. There is a TV commercial with football tailgaters. You must have seen that.

I was so excited by the Giants-Patriots match up that I didn't see one second of the game.  Driving home from the airport Sunday night, I did listen to the last four minutes of the game and it sounds like it was a good one.  Congrats to the Giants on another championship!

You're right.  At that price, I thought Tony Romo was agreeing to play one game in new York.

Do they have a football team in his home state?

As a long time Fan of Peyton Manning and the Colts, I can only hope he finds a leadership job within the organization. I would hate to see him in a "Farve-like" job-jumping situation that would bring a bad ending to an excellent career.
I think he would be an outstanding Quarterback Coach or Offensive Coordinator working under the right Coach.

I hope Miami or Washington. It would be fun to watch him face either Brady or ELI twice a year.

Whoever gets him, if he is healthy, is in a great position. Get Peyton then draft a Qb this year for him to mentor. If all goes well get a Montana/Young or Favre/Rogers scenario.

Washington???

What has Manning ever done that's bad enough to warrant working for Dan Snyder?  That's not a job, that's a prison sentence...

Fortunately he's a free agent and will be able to control his own fate for the most part.  I suspect there'll be rumors linking him to just about every indoor/warm weather team before he finally makes a decision.

I hope he retires and goes out on top, not struggle with a so-so team and possibly get re-injured. Sure, I'd like to see him in AZ but our O-Line can't protect him. Not too many other teams can either.,
If I was an owner, I'd offer him a QB coaching job with the intent to make him an Offensive Co-ordinator and then on to a head coaching job. Heck, he's done it already.
In addition to teams pounding on his door, I'm sure ESPN, Fox and CBS are throwing some big bucks at him.
Retire Payton, please retire!!!

Marshal faulk says Peyton won't go nfc because then it is impossible for a manning vs manning superbowl.

The Saints and Greg Williams are going to get hit hard. Personally, I think it is Karma for not just paying brees and Loomis correcting reporters who called Brees a great Qb by saying he is a very good Qb.

If Williams gets a long suspension it is the rams who really pay the price. Interesting to see how that plays out.

I am surprised the Colts did not make him coach and a co-owner/player.  I think personally that he was the real coach when Dungy was there.

For Heaven's sake, we all know that he's going to Washington.  Their midget megalomaniac, tree-killing owner can't resist his fantasy football urges.

I just hope that Peyton is 110% healed and healthy.  If not, he really has nothing left "to prove" and he certainly does not need the money.

As a Jets fan that had to cope with Marino twice a year, I would rather not see Peyton joining the Dolphins. My advice to him...Go west, young man, to Ariz.

Please don't you and the AZ and Miami "hopers" take this personally, but Peyton has already served his minor market time.  And, he has political aspirations.  His ego, his ambition, and Dan Snyder's ego & wallet are destined to find each other.

Take that to the bank.  Sorry.  That deal is done!

Stick a fork into it; it's tender.  It's juicy.  It's inevitable.

Again, I pray for his health.  He is such a good kid.

Hell, if he just wanted to win another Super Bowl, he'd sign with the Ravens.

"Mike & Mike" were talking about the Jets this morning on ESPN Radio and they came to the same conclusion I did: why would Manning want to join a team with a bad clubhouse and excessive distractions?  Additionally, they pointed out that Tony Sparano was brought in to make the offense more run-oriented and less reliant on the pass, and the Jets don't have that great of a receiving corps anyway.

This blogger thinks that Seattle's decision to build an open-air stadium could turn out to be an obstacle in a pursuit of Manning.

Little Danny Snyder Trades 3 Firsts and a Second for the rights to RGIII

Two names come immediately to mind:  Herschel Walker ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Walker_trade ) and Ricky Williams for whom the Saints & Mike Ditka gave away an entire draft and the best parts of another.

Just how did those "genius moves" work out?
