Not this year.  According to the stats I heard on ESPN this morning the TD/int ratios for this December are 6/6 for Manning and 8/0 for Romo, and Romo's completing about 15-16% more attempts than Manning.  But those are just numbers and the game still has to be played...

Brad

Yes, the game has to be played.  Tony always saves his "worst" for the last game -- most especially if it should mean anything.  And the one Sunday certainly does.

Besides, it will be played in the Meadowlands where the Cowgirls - little hothouse posies who practice and play in "climate-controlled" facilities - will get the shivers from the cold as well as fear.  And the little "boo-boo" on Tony's throwing hand will begin to throb.  (God, how I miss Jessica Simpson - 50#'s ago - in her little pink #9 jersey; that really took the cake!).

Don't misunderstand me:  I'd like the Cowgirls to win.  I'd also like Nancy Pelosi to do a Vulcan mind-meld with a reincarnated Milton Friedman.  I think the latter is more likely.  Take the Giants, give the points, and go to the bank.

MJ,
Tell us what you REALLY think!

I really think that the world is on a fast track to HELL

As evidence for this I submit the fact that only "chubby chasers" think Jessica Simpson is attractive these days.

All that said, I intend to remain a sardonic, sarcastic SOB and am determined to go out laughing!

We're not interested in Jessica Simpson for her voluptuous figure.
It's her intellect and philosophical outlook of the World that attracts us!

Over the course of my life and travels I have encountered/met many beautiful women who were also famous:  Elizabeth Taylor, Helen Hunt, Vanna White, Elin Nordegren, Lynda Carter, Claudia Schiffer, Farrah Fawcett, a number of Playboy and Penthouse "models" (primarily at the CES in Vegas) and  ...  Jessica Simpson.

For most when you see them "in real life" one really appreciates the artistry of make-up and professional photography.

The three notable exceptions were Elizabeth Taylor's eyes, Elin Nordegren (who I met in the company of her famous husband in a gourmet grocery near their home) and Jessica Simpson as she and Tony "Oh. No!" were enjoying the same outdoor cafe as us several years ago in Plano.  Now those are/were some "natural women"!

I'd love, even today, the opportunity to discuss the relative merits of Keynes v. von Hayek v. Milton Friedman with Ms. Simpson!

As you probably know by now, the Giants wolloped The Cowgirls and you can tell lleechef she does not need to expend any energy willing the Stillers over the Broncos. Tebow could not pass his way out of a wet paper bag.
Big Ben and the Offense don't even need to suit up. Just send the practice squad and the Defense out there to do the job.

Is that Ryan Clark getting there late in pass coverage?  Because based on the Steelers games I've seen over the past couple of years he seems to be pretty good at that although against Denver he might not be doing much covering anyway.

After watching yesterday's games I have to say that the team most likely to cost itself a playoff win is Detroit, but I don't know how much of chance it'll actually have to do that.  It's hard to not imagine Drew Brees carving up the Lions like Flynn did.

Semi-interesting trivia note: the Vikings have had two 3-13 seasons and each time the head coach was named Les: Les Steckel in 1984 and Les(lie) Frazier in 2011.  In Minnesota apparently Les is not more!

Not that I'm a big football fan, but I'm getting a kick out of the "if you ignore it, it will go away" theme on this thread since the winners of the 2012 Superbowl, the New England Patriots haven't even been mentioned once.

There will never be another team like the 19-0 Patriots.  Ignoring their 4 Super Bowl wins since then, they haven't been very good.

There is a reason for that.  The Patriots this year are the Beantown Sieves.  Even Green Bay has a better defense!  The winner of the real Superbowl - Baltimore v. Pittsburgh - will go on to play the Saints in Indy.  If I had to guess at this point I'd say that the winner will be wearing Black and Gold - most likely the Saints.

I don't know if his rookie contract expires at the end of this season or next but there's a good chance that Flynn will be the one getting richer, and somewhere other than Green Bay.  You can be sure that Ted Thompson's already looking ahead to Rodgers' next understudy.

When the Lions got the ball at their own 20 to start the final drive Stafford was 77 yards away from tying the all-time record for most yards in a game (554).  That would've been quite the finish had he passed them down the field for the win and the record.

Another little bit of semi-interesting trivia: The Vikings as of today are officially the only NFL team that is homeless. Their 30 year Metrodome lease is up and I doubt they would be willing to sign a new lease other than game to game. The pressure is now really on to build a new stadium in Minnesota.

Yeah a move to the L A Coliseum would be a real change for the Vikings... but the Team name would need to be altered to something more acceptable to SoCal folks..  Maybe the L A 'Vatos' or  "The Bangers", something with a more 'Homie' appeal!
It has always amazed me that the second largest city in the country could not support an NFL Franchise...for over 15 years now , not counting the temporary visit of the Raiders.

Even though I'm not a Vikings fan I would hate to see them relocate to another city.  They belong in Minneapolis-St. Paul just as much as the Bears in Chicago, the Lions in Detroit, and the Packers in Green Bay.

I don't think the Vikings are going to move to LA. They have four potential new stadium locations and it is mostly haggling on where and how they are going to do it. Besides, there are several other markets of lesser value to the NFL with less support that would move before the Vikings.

I don't know about a name change being necessary.  The last pro team L.A. took from Minneapolis kept its name and has done pretty well despite the fact that there are no lakes in L.A.

Good idea save for the fact that NFL team names are plural.

Wait a minute, so are RIOTS in L.A.:  Watts, MLK, Rodney King ...

---------------------------

On a more sober note, why not repeat with the Rams, Colts, and the Cardinals names the "classy" thing Baltimore did when they stole the Browns - let Cleveland keep the name and the records?

  • Have St. Louis give the Rams name to the Vikings for them to carry to its proper, historic place in L.A.
  • Phoenix lets St. Louis be the Cardinals again and takes a new, more appropriate name like the "Dirt Devils".
  • Minneapolis keeps the Vikings name, records, and traditions for "future use".
  • Indy becomes the "Racers" and returns the Colts name to Charm City.  (How many people in Indy think Johnny Unitas was the greatest QB in their franchise history?  So, send the records back, too.).
Do these things and the natural order will be resotred.
As a result, the world will NOT end in 2012.

--------------------
And while we're at it:  the winningest pitcher in Twins history is NOT Walter Johnson!!  The Rangers and the Twins need to send the records back to D.C. and the Nationals need to be the Senators once again to celebrate the coming of their "real life" Joe Hardy:  Bryce Harper.
