I have about one hundred hours of old movies, TV shows and serials on DVDs that I bought recently from on-line dealers and haven't had a chance to watch yet. I'm reducing that inventory little by little; currently I'm working on the second season of The Addams Family, and next I think I'll tackle Dragnet 1967, the 1950s crime series Treasury Men in Action, and WKRP in Cincinnati's first season ( that's all that's available so far. )

Currently I am tackling the 2nd season of "The Unit". Didn't realize how much I really liked that show until I watched 3 episodes in a row the other night.

Ive been nailing my library here since Ive been sick.  I went for the new releases which had a lot of holds on them.  They all came in at once so i had to get busy.  This week i watched The spirit, The Wrestler, The Day the Earth Stood still, Lonesome Dove, And the Grid Iron Gang.   Its a shame out local libraries are in financial trouble.  they are going to be cutting way back On the movies coming in as well as cutting hours again

The City of Pasadena is renowned around the world as having a top shelf-pardon the pun- public library system. Their motto is "a library within a mile of every resident", the city has a fantastic main library and 9 branches in a city of 150,000 residents.

In the Civic Center Plaza across from the legendary City Hall seen in hundreds of movies and TV shows and down the block from the main library are the giants head sculptures of Jackie and Mack Robinson.

MFL I saw that too, and I didn't entirely love it.  I got the twist by the end of it and I think some of it was incredibly well done for how little it appears to have been made for, but it drug in spots.

I really loved Let the Right One In. I agree that it is slow moving in parts but I found that the pacing fit the story that was being told. There's going to be an American remake, which I'm sure will screw everythin up. It's going to be directed by the guy who directed Cloverfield, which I really didn't like.

I spent a relaxing evening last night watching Clint Eastwood shoot people. I watched Magnum Force and The Enforcer. I liked The Enforcer a little less than Magnum Force. But neither one is as good as Dirty Harry.

Oh geez you're right they're gonna screw that up.  (see also, 'Wings of Desire' to 'City of Angels')

I saw something new last night I thought I'd mention, 'I Could Never Be Your Woman.'  It's a age-difference rom-com written and directed by Amy Heckerling ('Clueless' and 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High') and it clunks in a couple places but it's really smart and funny and you get to look at Michelle Pfeiffer for two hours.  Not too bad.

Nancy, your mother is Lois Foraker? I've seen her name in the credits of a number of  TV shows over the years ( I'm a devoted "credits reader" and have always had an interest in character actors and supporting players ), but I can't put a face with her name.

hmmm, probably the most recognizable thing she's done is an episode of 'The Larry Sanders Show' that was based on the whole Jay Leno-Tonight Show fiasco, except the Larry Sanders pretender to the throne was Sandra Bernhard.  Lois played the evil lady manager.  And I'm told the kids recognize her from 'My So Called Life' but I never watched that show.

I just got volume 3 of SCTV - great sketch comedy, and clever ways of featuring musical guests, especially John Candy's "Fishin' Musician" show. Before their musical numbers, they'd be out with Candy in a narrated travelog film - Jimmy Bufett fishing from a hot air balloon, Carl Perkins and the band on an endless road trip up north to catch the 'big ones'...
A friend at the office was excited to get hard to find DVDs of both seasons of Chris Elliott's "Get A Life". That is one weird show.

Iron Man, quirky flick very unlike what I expected. I was mostly a DC reader so I had no idea of the Marvel Tony Stark mythos. When Iron Man 2 hits my library, I will take it out. Next up, The Battle of Algiers.
