Anybody remember growing up in say, Chicago or Detroit in the 60s and running across the street from your high school at lunchtime for a sack of White Castle burgers and just pigging out for fifteen minutes.

I did that in Chicago in the 60's (went to college in Illinois)and became a craver forever. Got to do it again last weekend in Indianapolis while staying overnight after a late plane flight. Pigged out at Whitey's for breakfast right across from my hotel. Had 6 single CB'S with some hash browns! Just as good as ever!!! QFan Bonita Springs, FL

There is a WC in Indianapolis, right across from the Slippery Noodle bar. I can remember on night (er, morning) when that particular WC was "HEAVEN."

Just had the white castle double cheeseburger value meal. Man does white castle hit the spot when you are craving it. I can't explain what really makes them so good, but they are worth the price you will be paying on the toilet later.

We weren't allowed to leave the school grounds for lunch. When I was a senior and only had to go to school from 8:00 - 11:30, our favorite place to hit was the Druther's salad bar with all the fried veggies. But yes, White Castles do hit the spot at certain times --- we always keep a box of them in the freezer. The frozen ones are not quite as good, but if you nuke them right they're almost as good! I bought the frozen ones at Walmart a few weeks ago. They are very bland but I found by adding pickles, mustard and some onions, they improve but still not near as good as ones at the facility. We do not have a While Castle in Knoxville. Only Krystal. Many argue on this forum that one is the better than the other. Quite frankly my older taste can barely discern the difference. Both have their place. I think that White Castle has a better menu. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I agree about the frozen being a bit bland. I end up putting some hot sauce on them, and good to go! I have noticed such a price hike, in this area. It has been a few months since my last visit. Had some business in Jersey City. Went in for the smallest combo, and it cost $6!! I think it was four sliders, fries and a small (or medium) soda. Wow! Times are changing.

Lunch... Before: After: I confess I had two small assistants help with this task, but could have done it myself. I am lucky to have a White Castle near enough for an occasional stop, but far enough away that I don't do it to excess! Not sure what it is I like about these burgers...but I like!

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking on your part, or perhaps that being drunk clouds your mind the way Lamont Cranston used to cloud men's minds.

I love White Castle hamburgers, but nowadays I don't have them nearly as often as I used to. I've noticed, in the last few years, that they don't have quite the same flavor that they always did. Maybe it's just me, but the onion flavor doesn't seem as intense as it did before. When I do get them, I always ask for extra onions, as that seems to compensate for the difference in taste. Has anyone else noticed this, or are my tastebuds playing tricks on me?

Tony Bad - Great photos...really clear! We enjoy them often and the latest is a double cheeseburger, add a dipped in ranch chicken ring, top off with three fries. We've been mixing and matching for some time and that one is everyone's favorite! Getting a crave Case - 1/2 & 1/2 for the Super Bowl Party! Tony - I never got the tape...sorry!

Sometimes, it's a monster scoop! Really adds some extra flavor and kick!
