White Castle Stools

Anyone out there know or have a photo of early White Castle stools? I have a set of four old cast iron, white and balck enameled stools that have a pattern that looks to me like the top of a castle. Wondering it they could be a little piece of history. I don't have a phot of them, but could take one if someone thinks it would help. Thanks

Just noticing the lack of replies to your query. Without being to crude, could it be that the wording of your topic heading coupled with the near legendary reputation White Castle Burgers have for causing intestinal distress might be a bit off-putting for some folks?

I must have messed up somehow...I thought I replied to this one yesterday. Remember that Steak and Shake also uses counter stools and they are black and white too. Lots of possibilities for old diner furniture.

If you could post a picture of the pattern that you think looks like the top of a castle, it certainly wouldn't hurt in trying to identify them. I notice you are in Honolulu, and as far as I know, neither White Castle nor Steak 'n Shake were ever anywhere close to Hawaii. Did you get the stools over there?

The thing that got me was that he said he'd take pictures of them. I've done some crude stuff before, but........ I did get a great laugh out of this last night. Thanks, even though you weren't trying to, you still made my night.

We've always referred to White Castle burgers as "sliders." If you have to ask why, just keep thinking about it.

The title stopped me cold, too. Things got worse when I read that these stools were made out of cast-iron. (We need an icon with a pained expression.)

Did anyone ever see the movie "White Palace" (aka "Castle') with Susan Sarandon, one of her "restaurant trilogy"? This actually is a very good film and Susan is great as a Whote Palace/Castle waitress!

I love "White Palace"! Some of my favorite scenes - when James Spader returns the empty hamburger boxes trying to get his money back and Susan S says something like "How do I know you didn't just gobble those up?" and he says "Because I don't gobble and I don't lie." It's just funny, he says it so seriously standing there in his tux. That, and "There's no dust in her dustbuster!" James Spader is great.

In an attempt to assist our fellow Roadfooder in his quest for information. I only have one question, Are they Hard or Soft Stools? quote:Originally posted by liquidSales1 Anyone out there know or have a photo of early White Castle stools? Thanks I saw a picture of Jesus on a grilled cheese sandwich once, but I never look for patterns in stools (either hard or soft). Sorry Liquid, but I'd say you do have a "piece" of history if you have some cast-iron stools in your possession.

The resturants featured in the movie "White Palace" are both in the St. Louis, MO area. The extreior view is of the White Knight sandwich shop on Washington in Downtown. It used to be an Eat-Rite, but it was made to look like a phoney white castle just for the movie. The inside shots were taken at a Diner in Overland, MO on Woodson Rd., which as far as I know has no name besides "Diner," now, but I believe is once a piece of the now mostly defunct Eat-Rite chain. Good breakfast, but boy it gets packed in there, and its quite small inside. The directors wanted to use exterior shots of a local White Castle, but White Castle wanted nothing at all to do with it. Oh, and I thought the same thing about the topic name! Has anyone ever noticed that the White Castle smell seems to remain as it exits your body, it smells nearly the same as when it went in! Gotta love the sliders!

Thought the same thing exactly, especially in conjunction with the handle "liquid sales" I did grow up in the 50's eating at white castle regularly, I can't say that I remember any imprints on the stools though.

I've avoided this thread all week due to the title.....my advice on the "stools" is to see if the manufacturer is marked on the items and google the name...or google RESTAURANT stools....if you did just stool I would shudder to think of what the contents of 76,890 hits would be...

I think you are under-estimating Google. Googling vintage restaurant stools brings 154,000 hits.
