White Castle to get rid of all metal buildings?

Looks like WC is moving to replace all metal panel restaurants with brick ones. I have seen several perfectly good WC buildings torn down recently to have a new brick one built next door. I wonder why? White Castle used to own the company that made the metal panels which were also popular with gas stations in the 50s. I always thought that the metal buildings were something cool and unique about the chain, and am sorry to see them go.

I know they replaced one of the metal buildings in Lexington, KY with brick. I wonder if the remaining metal building in Lexington will follow.

They can't do that to all locations. All we have around Detroit is Metal locations. They probably just mean the low-performing, older or corporate locations.

All White Castle locations in the United States are corporate- owned. They've replaced the highest grossing ones already.

The one that they just tore down to replace near me, was probably the busiest WC around my area - it had been there 30+ years. They have been slowly replacing them around St. Louis, and I'd imagine eventually all over the place. White Castle is very unique in fast food, as they own all their restaurants, and are very closely privately held. Interestingly enough, White Castle actually used to own the company that made the metal panels for their restaurants.
