Had an outstanding breakfast at Whitey's in Wilmington, NC. Scrambled eggs, housemade bicuits, creamy grits and an excellent "malted waffle." Very reasonable and large portions.

I guess that message is confusing to me as a retired officer. Shift briefings typically included a casual BS session about who had a daily special, who had something new on the menu and what the pie of the day was at specific locales. I would like to think that a gathering of emergency resp onders who are exposed to food on the run every single day would be a clue to good eats. My peer group would never tolerate poor food as we were all pretty dollar conscious and wanted the best bang for our buck.

I'd try it, but then I saw it's not in Wilmington, Delaware...which is a lot closer.

chrismzarpas, my father swears by Whitey's in his monthly travels to the NC coast. You didn't try his favorite, though: their amazing link sausage. Guess you'll have to go back... Chris

I think that the sign of cop cars means free eats. When I did my short stint as a FPM at a village Inn wewere located in what is now Lo-Do just off Larimere Sq(back then still a rough place at nite/am) We had a deal with the cops on our beat. Free eats for comming in and hanging out. I hated when I had just fed them a freebe when a call came in and they had to runr. They'd come back and need a new meal(my bonus was figured on FC) britt
