Who else can do without a Cell/ Smart Phone?

I hate them, I carry a cell on Thursdays when I do my Costco run. Seeing people driving, texting, sitting in groups at a restaurant, not talking to each other, texting, etc. I have done just fine all my life pre Cell, and will do just fine without an Apple IPhone, anyone else hate them?

I carry it exclusively only in the truck. "Just in case" something should happen.

    I'm not a phone person.

90% of my work life requires one. Since I'm always on call, I always have my phone. I do, however, know how to turn the ringer off, not answer it if it's not convenient, and even, *gasp* how to turn it off occasionally.

It does come in very handy in the bar, though. Either I can pretend I'm laughing at something on my phone rather than the people around me, or I can choose to be involved with something on my phone so I don't have to talk to the person next to me (I tend to go alone, so talking to the person next to me is not always something desirable).

I rarely use my cell phone as a phone.

I do, however use it to access the net when not at home and also as a camera.

When I had one I called it "my leash".
When I think I may need one, I just grab one of the Princess' "collection".

I use my cell phone as a phone. That's because it is a phone. I got my first one in order to be able to order an apizza while on my way home. That was back in the '80s. I still haven't used one to order an apizza.

We no longer have a landline phone, but both Janet and I carry a cell PHONE. It is a clamshell unit, it does text but I very seldom use that media...and never in my truck. It also has a camera that has never been used either.  When I use the cell phone in my truck, Ford's SYNC system allows voice command dialing and speakerphone use, so I can maintain my hands on driving...I won't call if I don't absolutely have too.  One advantage to being "OLD", we - jan and I- tend to go places together, which gives her the comm-officers job as I drive.

Buy a throw away from Wal Mart with 5 minutes on it, you'll  save enough to get your wife a new set of matching rubber bands!

I can do without mine but it is convenient to have for emergency calls (they're taking my mother away in an ambulance or such) or if MH expects me to be home, but I'm running late.  I text about once a week.......to my friend Susan in Alaska to see if there's snow yet.  Also handy for sending pics of the fall colors when there's already snow on the ground up there!!  Rub it in!  I refuse to answer it if I'm driving.  Apparently there are net features on it.......don't know, don't need, don't care.

On my second (since 2006) Tracfone prepaid cellular, mainly for emergencies & long trips -- only pay $20 for a 3 month/60 unit card.  No text or camera which, for now, is fine with me.   :)

mine does have an interesting fake call feature.

You are somewhere and get trapped talking to that person or relative you cant stand, on my phone, press a button and then 30 seconds later the phone rings with your preset "fake caller" you can answer it and "talk" to your fake caller.

The iPhone is essential when on the road as much as I am and over 90% of my photos are from the iPhone. Examples? Mostly on Twitter at @davydd

I wonder what you all do when you are not yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off your lawns.

It is possible that you, collectively, are not the target market for the makers of these devices and the marketers of the commensurate services. There is a reason that advertisers target the 18-35 year old demographic.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 that serves as my phone, instant communicator (text, instant chat), camera, GPS, newspaper, personal entertainment device (music and videos) and - yes - toy. I would guess that "phone" is the LEAST used of the mentioned features.

I could, of course survive, but I really do like my Galaxy S3 phone and my Kindle HD. Both came in handy today while waiting with my daughter at Motor Vehicle Services and next Friday my Husband has to go in for a Stress test to se if he needs a trip to the Cath lab or another open heart surgery. I'll definitely be using both. The phone to keep my kids informed and the Kindle to keep me from going over the deep end from worry!

At least MH hasn't learned to call you to order an apizza while on his way home.  ...

I have the Apple 4S.  Siri is double outstanding and the newest upgrade improved the understand ability.  She almost never gets it wrong.  The newest 5S Apple has a very much improved camera and video.  I am not going to upgrade as my 4S works just fine particularly after the latest upgrade.  I use a Bluetooth and almost never have to dial.  Siri does it for you.  I rarely text as that involves having to use the keypad.  I mostly wait until I am back at my computer to respond to emails.

Just basic cell phone for us-texting ability( which I hate and don't do) and a camera. Our lifestyle doesn't require us to access internet etc while not at home. And frankly-especially at work and elsewhere, people don't talk anymore. They are texting or tweeting or whatever. Its sad.

My cell provider lost roaming when Sprint shut down the Nextel towers.    ... My provider wanted me to change from a $28/mn unlimited plan to about $65/mn and to buy a new $300 phone.  ...BS...
I now have a second cell phone, Tracfone (LG840g - $10) with triple minutes, for roaming in areas I don't have regular service.   ... $10 for 30min (+60 min bonus) or $20 for 60min (+120 min bonus) ... Now when I will be out of my home area, I set the old service to call forward to the Tracfone.      ... I'm evaluating my usage to decide if I should drop or keep the $28/mn unlimited plan.

If anyone is interested,... .straighttalk has a 'home phone' (cell) for $15/mn unlimited.  You can connect regular phones or cordless phones to.   ... I think this would be perfect to use in a truck/trailer or hotdog cart.

I just have a regular ol' "dumb" cell phone that I upgrade for free (after rebate) every 3 years or so with Verizon.

For "Smart Phone" features I have a Samsung Player (Android's answer to the I-pod Touch). It's not a phone, and requires wifi access, but other than that it does everything a smart phone does, with no monthly charges. Since I'm in a developed Suburban area and am quite often in NY City, I'm never too far from free wifi if the need for internet access arises when I'm away from home.

    From the Dallas Morning News:
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, whose net worth is estimated at $2.7 billion, was caught on camera talking on an old school flip phone during Saturday's Notre Dame-Arizona State game at Cowboys Stadium.

In your mind what is a and what can it do to help you? Only when you are in the situation that the gps blocker is need you will understand how important and useful such kind of device is. Gaining more knowledge of the device? Just start and then you will have access to the best GPS jammer.

And I feel sorry for him; his measly $2.7 B doesn't even put him in the 'top 20' in DFW.  Most likely, it doesn't even put him into the top 10 in his neighborhood of Highland Park.
