Who here is retired, who sneeks in a post from work? Wed, 12/22/10 5:34 PM (permalink)
I post from my computer here on the bar at my place...pretending to be engrossed in it but actually watching and listening to everything going on in here. Once I found my Kitchen team, I was able to cut the 110, truely, hrs. a week in the kitchen down, I now oversee everything in my place and blab here.

I see I posted in the wrong Misc. forum, a move please.

I spend way to much time in front of the computer.  And not by choice.

Now all documents, blueprints and specifications come to me over the internets.  I would rather drive to Scranton to pick up some plans, then stop at Catalano's for a hoagie..............

I post from work. Basically, my time at work is 90% sheer boredom and 10% trying to keep from looking like an idiot.

This is how my job went too, I loved having to go out into the field or take plans to the blueprinter, who knew what you'd find to eat along the way!

I used to post from work but I'm retired now and still spend most of my day in front to the computer.

Didn't you say you sell grills? Then clearly it is work related.

Retired in 2000. I have been teaching one section of 'Psych' a year, for the State College where I worked full-time back in the 1980's, but I have dropped even the part-time  stuff now.  Jan has a few more years she has to work, so I am the dog-sitter & dinner-cooker for now.

Retirement is but a dream for me...I'll be posting from work until I die or they fire me, whichever comes first..

I'm semi-retired, with two part-time jobs, which I brown bag my lunch and conscientious employee that I am, surf the Roadfood forums only on my lunch hour, right?  I also enjoy reading the online NY Times Sunday book review, and another food forum at www.nola.com.

I am not retired, but my schedule is so erratic that at any given time of day or night you can find me posting from home.  Very rarely will I post from work...only if I'm department head for a hockey game, got there very early, and all my work is done before the game starts.  Otherwise, I either don't have internet access or the time to use it if I do while I'm working.

I have been a self employed free-lance designer for over 50 years.  I now sit by the phone waiting for my next job.
The phone doesn't ring as often (or maybe I don't hear it) since anyone with a computer and a software program can do my job faster, cheaper and half assed.

Ancient One, what do you design?
Before I met my wife I had many designs on women, is that the same thing?

                                1. I usually work from home, so maybe it's both.
                                2. Mayor Al, I teach Psych too, in NYC. Where do you teach?

cTF --- designs on women is a no-no.  Also it is a passion that decreases with time.  It is a passion that can only get you into a lot of trouble anyhow.

I designed the interiors of homes, offices, stores, etc.
Did jobs all over the world but mostly in the
tri-state area around  NYCity.  Also got involved in heating and a/c since most homes needed to be warmed or cooled.

I retired in April of '09 but did some consulting 2 days a week for the next 6 months. I'd say I actually am on the PC (and on Roadfood) less now than when I worked full time. I keep busy walking, taking day trips, food shopping (wife is still working), chores. Who knows where the time goes, it just flies by.

When I worked full time, about 1/2 my work was with the PC, and I'd usually spend lunch hour and an hour or so of overtime at my desk on non-work web sites (still looking like I was working of course). I didn't get paid for overtime or working thru lunch, so all I was earning was face time anyway. But it looked good....

I'm retired, still wasting lots of time on the internet. I just haven't found my "groove" yet.

One more week, and I will have been retired eleven years.  (My, how the time flies by when you are having fun!)  I was much too busy at the store where I worked to even think about spending time on the computer, and anyway, I am not really sure that we even had internet access at the store in those days.

Since I had driven and camped all over North America on vacations, seeking out the less-known and more unusual places to visit, I thought I might, as a retirement project, start an internet-based travel service (customized for the specific interests of their family) for people who didn't want to go the travel agent route for their vacations.  However, shortly after I retired, the dot.com "meltdown" pretty much killed any financing which I had planned on for my project.  I now do this type of vacation planning for friends, for free.
