My Mom had a picture of her and the origonal Wienermobile.  She was being hugged by the midget "Little Oscar"  who used to drive it.  It was back in the in the 30's.  She must have had 29 of the original whistles.  I wonder if they are worth anything now?

    From http://www.onestopfaqs.com/faqs/18753/
According to the Kraft site, "In 1952, Carl Mayer dreamed up the Wienerwhistle as a promotional giveaway. Shaped like an Oscar Mayer Weiner, it could be played like a real musical instrument. At first, Wienerwhistles were handed out by company spokespeople during Wienermobile appearances. In 1958, the whistles were packaged with Oscar Mayer Wieners, and in 1964, they were a sell-out success at the New York World's Fair, dispensed in vending machines for two cents.

    From the Wisconsinology blog.

A few things everyone should know when reading today's #1 news item...Oscar Crashes Into Home.

#1 The Weinermobile was designed by THE industrial designer of the 20th century, Milwaukee's own Brooks Stevens (more here).

#2 The first person to play the role of "Little Oscar" and the first to drive the first Oscar Meyer Weinermobile was rural Watertown's Meinhardt Raabe, better known as the Mayor Coroner of Munchkintown from the classic film "The Wizard of Oz" (more here).

#3 The Oscar Meyer plant in Madison's east side is a symbol of that city's nearly forgotten past as somewhat of a blue collar town. But that was long ago.

From the blog, a great line attributed to Brooks Stevens, "There's nothing more aerodynamic than a wiener."

George Molchan was most likely the Little Oscar who hugged your mom. George lived in Gary, Indiana, just a few blocks from where I grew up. It was a common place occurrance, as a young man to see the Wienermobile parked in front of Mr. Molchan's house.

George's brother, Elmer, was my one of my high school teachers when I was in high school back in the early 1960's.

George Molchan was one of the kindest persons to ever walk the face of the earth. He spent a considerable number of years, working at Disney World bringing smiles to everyone he came in contact with. He moved back to Northwest Indiana to spend his retirement years with his many friends and family.
