Wither the Beanie Burger?

My favorite hamburger place has gone pubby. The Gahanna Grill, home of the Beanie Burger, a lovingly-created masterpiece that has grilled onions, bacon, lettuce, tomato and cole slaw on a hand-pattied burger has built a patio of sorts and now has umbrella-topped ables outside where patrons can enjoy the aromas of the main street on one side and the parking lot on the other. This is a tavern, for Pete's sake. A bar! You go there to drink and eat, not to look pretty under a blasted umbrella. I know that Beanie Vesser is still in the kitchen making his eponymous hamburgers, but he must be sick in his soul that the new owners would do such a thing. I just hope the rest rooms are still filthy and the pieces of cardboard used to level the tables are still there.

OK. I just got back from having a beer at the Gahanna Grill. The men's rest room is still sort of grimy, thank goodness. And there were at least two tables that needed cardboard or matchbooks to keep them from wobbling. Now, if only a truck would go out of control and take out the new patio everything would be fine again.

Could the patio get seedy over time and that would be accceptable? Or does the very existence of a patio at this place ruin it all?

This brand new patio is already seedy, even if the umbrellas aren't yet torn and dangling. But a place with a patio that doesn't have a clear view of waves breaking on the shore can never be acceptable for a drinking man.

You'd think if they where upgrading, they'd atleast hang a urinal on the patio wall..

Whats the point of a room, if you have no view?
