Wood Chips in food

Just when you thought it was safe to eat some cereal. But I've always been suspicious of the McRib but who woulda thought wood chips in a McRib. The FDA is not your friend.

    I guess Euell Gibbons was correct when he told us many parts of a tree are edible!  Still, this won't stop me from enjoying my beloved ice cream, most varieties of which are full of cellulose gum/gel.

    Still can't get my head around the fact that this stuff is even in the Swiss cheese. I have come to expect this from the fast food industry and I see it's even getting into the processed food. It's all about the dollar.

    I am actually surprised it is not in more foods than that.  The new formula of cheerios taste like chopped up trees.  It is amazing what we will eat when it looks good.

    When I was much younger I ingested some weed but to my knowledge I never knowingly at a tree.  My grandmother used the roots of many trees to make tea such as teaberry, and the roots to make root beer and flavored the gum from the gum tree to make chewing gum.  Probably uses were much more than I knew about.

    I suspected something like this after I kept getting "bits" of something left in my mouth after eating some carrot cake squares brought in by a very good caterer that I use for business lunches in the office where I work. The odd things left had the consistency and texture of soggy paper that would not dissolve. I usually remove them with a finger and put them in the trash. They are very  small and don't taste off, but they just don't dissolve like a cake crumb would.
     
    It could be that the caterer is using a mix of some sort that is mixed in her kitchen and baked fresh. Other than this, she makes excellent baked goods, cookies, bars, cakes, etc. I'm debating about whether or not to say anything.

    I have to apologize to BIG G Cereals, The new formula for Cheerios may taste like ground up wood, there is NO cellulose listed in any form.
     
    Now kraft mac & cheese is another item that i was surprised listed 3 forms of cellulose in the original blue box.

    This has been going on since the 1970's   ... at one time there was some breads that had cellulose fillers and there still is.

    Even worse, there is an amazingly large amount of the frequently deadly Dihydrogen Oxide in much of our food.
