Wood Not Necessary

I used to cook with all wood fired pits but now I use gas fired indirect heat cookers or lump char grills and get just as good of a product if not better. Anyone do the same?? I love the reliability with less work especially on windy days!

I use lump and wood for my smoker and a gas grill for steaks, burgers and dogs. Nice looking rig!

Real good looking rig!!!. Many folks prefer wood smoke but I am probably an exception although Dreamland does a grill with wood but it is not a slow smoke. It is more of a heat source and they cook their ribs for about 45 minutes over wood. You do not get the intense wood smoke taste with it that way. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I do both and some times use electric grills. On gas grills when I want smoke, I put wood chips in a loaf pan covered with foil punched with holes. On the electric grill I might add a few char-brickets for smoke.

Very nice looking rig. I'd be interested to hear more on how it all works. Wood is good, but it can be mismanaged to produce embarrassing 'q.
