Wood Not Necessary

I used to cook with all wood fired pits but now I use gas fired indirect heat cookers or lump char grills and get just as good of a product if not better. Anyone do the same??

I love the reliability with less work especially on windy days!

I use lump and wood for my smoker and a gas grill for steaks, burgers and dogs.
    Nice looking rig!

    Real good looking rig!!!.

Many folks prefer wood smoke but I am probably an exception although Dreamland does a grill with wood but it is not a slow smoke. It is more of a heat source and they cook their ribs for about 45 minutes over wood. You do not get the intense wood smoke taste with it that way.

I do both and some times use electric grills. On gas grills when I want smoke, I put wood chips in a loaf pan covered with foil punched with holes. On the electric grill I might add a few char-brickets for smoke.

    Very nice looking rig.

I'd be interested to hear more on how it all works.

Wood is good, but it can be mismanaged to produce embarrassing 'q.
