The first annual "World's Best Brats Competition" will be held Sunday, October 2 in Watertown, Wisconsin. It's about time somebody put together something like this. Brad

I'm sure Bucyrus, Ohio was the organizers' first choice.

World's "best"? I'll bet some folks in Germany might take issue too.

Bucyrus turned it down. It would have interfered with weekend cruisin'.

Hmm...Watertown, WI...home of Detjen's Meat Market...and the flaming hungarian sausages they made last year out of my husband's deer. Too spicy to eat even after boiling in beer, even after adding sour cream to them on the bun, even after chopping them up and putting them with white rice. Maybe if people are "lucky", they'll have some samples of them. I'm still sitting on a freezer full. Nobody in my family can stand them and my husband orders everything EXTRA,EXTRA,EXTRA spicy (10 on a scale of 10 spicy).

If at least one bratwurst from Swiss Meats in Swiss Missouri is not included in this competition then I wouldn't consider it genuine.

JRPfeff Why must someone always steal my brilliant ideas? You wanted to enter Swiss Meat's brats too?

I agree with Gyp. What a disappointment Johnsonville won. I would have thought the field would not have included major sausage makers.
