In case you are wondering how I know this (???), I was just reading Thomas Egan's good book "The Worst Hard Time" about the Dust Bowl. (strongly recommended read). It used to be called No Man's Land, Texas and Okla Panhandle, SW Kansas, SE Colo and NW NM. I'm currently in NM, a few hours away, and thought about going up for the weekend. I googled Dalhart and found http://www.dalhart.org/xitrodeo.htm The XIT ranch was one of the largest in the world, over 3,000,000 acres, so they have this reunion and rodeo each year, real cowboy, real Texas and I'm sure real Texas BBQ. I'm going to try to make it. Free BBQ!!!
