They also produce a third canned product, almost as esoteric as the other two, but I can't remember what it is at the moment. Maybe some of you Down Easterners can reawaken my dormant synapses.

6star,

        marberthenad,
We can buy those locally. They aren't half bad if you drown 'em in mustard. Nor have they made me sick yet, eating 'em straight out of the can... after all, they're fully cooked... or so the salesman from Bryan Foods told me most enthusiastically. "I eat 'em right out of the can myself," he beamed.
I wish him a daily-basis lifetime supply... about 7 or 8 more years before his innards give out....

I work in a data processing world where we stay open 24/7 364 days of the year. I have spent as much a 32 hours straight at work because of weather problems before. Because of this I keep a spare change of clothes and several canned food products here at work. Some of my staples are canned corned beef, beef stew, sardines, Vienna sausages and SPAM. I usually have a box of Saltines and always a bottle of Cholula hot sauce. The Cholula will kick up everything to an edible level.

While I love fresh dandelions and fiddleheads, I don't think I could be persuaded to buy them canned. And all those pig lips and tails! And the hermetically regurgitated chicken product.....BLEECH.

I happen to like the mint gingerale, though. It was one of the few soda pops we ever had in our house.

To our resident columnist Ort. NICE ARTICLE even if it beets ya!

Hubby says he remembers the bloater paste as a kid. They used to put it on toast. He says bloaters are little fish, like smelts.

On the other hand, he also grew up eating Marmite on toast. So go figure.

Potted meat with chopped pickles is one of the more popular tea sandwich fillings at my English teas. Of course I hide the can at the bottom of the trash.

I've also had the Hot Lix...and the lollies with a cricket or worm in them are a popular gag gift here in Los Angeles. The British shrimp chips are yummy...Those spicy Japanese fried peas are good too...I've also bought the pork lips in Cajun country...oh my God, I've actually eaten alot of this food...should I see a professional?

I've eaten Potted Meat Food Product, sometimes in a show of nerve. Reminds me of that Honeymooners episode with the dog food.

Whats missing here is their slogan (perhaps they've dropped it since the last time I saw it in Chicago, 1985..)

                      "Cures that Logy Feeling!"

lo-gy Marked by lethargy: sluggish. (source Webtser's II New College Dictionary)
