Wright's Seafood Heidelberg PA closed after 105yrs

Wright's Seafood in Heidelberg, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA never could raise the funds necessary to reopen after the devastating flooding of September 17, 2004. It was the oldest operating family run restaurant in the county.

That's a shame, I used to pass the place all the time while I was living in Pittsburgh, too bad I never ate at the place.

Oh my gosh. What sad news. I lived one mile from Wright's, on Greentree Rd. for a little over a year and ate there a LOT....with friends, parents, work colleagues, etc. There was ALWAYS a line and a wait but it was worth it because the food was superb. Such a shame that the flood did them in.

Unfortunately, I never did get a chance to eat at Wright's Seafood before they closed. It has been over two years since the flood and the building Wright's was in is still vacant with a "For Sale" sign up front. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, since the place must need a ton of repair work.

Wright's Seafood Restaurant went down hill over the years the portions continued to get smaller their prices continued to climb higher and higher and prior to it closing business had fallen off quite a bit to what it had been like in prior years. That is the principal reason for its closing - the flood just polished it off.

I was told last night that Wright's Seafood was going to reopen. And here the PG has an article about it this morning.

Since they just reopened, I decided to go check Wright's Seafood out tonight. I had good lobster bisque, excellent hot, soft rolls and delicious shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. My friend had a salad with wonderful homemade dressing (I can't remember what exactly it was) and she loved her salmon stuffed with crabmeat. All together, the bill was $50.00, pre tip. For the quality of the food, I consider it a real bargain and I will be back.
