Check today's yahoo(2/2/08) for a post on a national hamburger taste test...not trash burgers like Mickey D's and Burger King...but places like T.G.I Fridays, Applebees etc. Check it out for the surprising results!! What do you think???

Looks like he thinks they all pretty well suck except for one and it didn't exactly get glowing praise.

I'm not surprised that Red Robin won. I've listened to non-RF friends extol this place for the last few years, yet I refused to try it due to my chain disdain. Finally, I joined Amy there for a colleague's birthday a few months ago...and was honestly impressed. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium-rare with a little pink), the toppings were prime, and the huge steak fries and dipping sauces were wonderful. We still wouldn't go on our own, but we wouldn't refuse if offered by others -- one of a handful of chains that I'll now tolerate.

I was not surprised by Red Robin's win either, I mean the place focuses on BURGERS, whereas the others focus is scattered. I really liked the A1 Peppercorn Burger "Sizzling, hickory-smoked bacon, melted Pepper-Jack cheese, A.1.® peppercorn spread, crispy onion straws, onions and tomatoes on an onion bun. It’s a taste explosion!" From RR website

Red Robin has a very good burger. It is about the only non roadfood burger I will eat. I used to eat Fuddruckers when they first opened but sad to say there time in the sun is way past. I am not sure if Culvers is considered a chain but I enjoy them and of course In-n-Out when I am out west is always top notch. As far as fast food the only one I go to is White Castle and that is on the rare occasion when I get the crave for a bag full of habenero cheese burgers....Russ

My gripe with Red Robin was the volume of the music blaring thru the place and lack of comfortable seating for large folks. we don't bother with then as a result. I really do hate to shout to make myself heard over the "music".

I have been to Red Robin in 2 different states (St Louis, MO and Woodbridge, VA) and have to say I am very unimpressed with the burgers I've had there. I like other things I've had there, but if I want to pay $8-$10 for a burger, I'll go to Ruby Tuesday or Applebees in the same area. Or 5 Guys. I am sure quality control in a chain varies, but for where *I* am at the moment, Red Robin is simply turning out so-so burgers, and out here (as well as in the St Louis area) servics is spotty at best.

I've eaten at all of them and didn't like any of them. Fuddruckers and Cheeburger Cheeburger still make the best chain burgers I've had. I tried 5 guys once at their Brick, NJ location a few weeks after it opened and I wasn't impressed, but I'm willing to try it again. Dave

I've heard that approximately 27% of all Americans dislike surveys.

I heard that 45% of surveys are falsified to resemble actual surveys so that brings down the average

McDonalds sells more burgers than anyone else. Of course, this doesn't mean they serve the "best" burgers, but, I think it does mean that more people eat at McDonald's than the number of people who admit to eating at McDonald's.

Whenever somone tells me that something is "the best" because it is the most bought or the most patronized or the most popular, I point out that by that reasoning McDonald's is the best restaurant in the known universe.

There was a red robin in West Palm Beach for a couple years, but it closed down. Not sure why, but their food was pretty mediocre if i remember....

Yum!Brands is bigger than McDonalds, but Yum!Brands includes Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Long John Silvers and A&W. There are more McDonalds restaurants than any other restaurant in the world. McDonalds sales eclipses both Subway and Yum!Brands by about 12.8 billion dollars annually. Subway is gaining on McDonalds in the number of locations, but still brings in less than half the revenue.
