Michael---one unique thing about the Polo Grounds ---- - At Ebbets Field sitting in the front row of the center field bleachers we could talk to Duke Snider. He would throw us a ball once in a while until management started charging him for them. But----if you sat in the first row in Center Field at the Polo Grounds you couldn't see home plate without binoculars and 20-20 vision. Willie Mays was 100 feet from us--------no talking to him without a bull horn..

Yep, the center field wall was a bit of a hike away from the plate. But I never sat in the bleachers. Us plutocrats sat behind the dugouts.

Nope. Bill Terry. I am a curmudgeon, but one doesn't have to be old to be one, and John McGraw was just a tad before my time.

Voss must be older than I am if he remembers McGraw. Bill Terry was leading the Giants to the pennant---a reporter asked if the Giants coming 3 game series with the Dodgers conserned him. Terry made this remark-----The Dodgers? Are they still in the league? The Boys from Brooklyn came into the Polo Grounds and swept the 3 games. The Giants did not win the pennant and Terry was fired. Terry has the honor of being the last 400 hitter in the NL, so he wasn't all bad.

If Brother Voss looks older he is in very bad shape. Joe did you have your good glasses on? Those CVS ones distort, you know. Michael, I love Ogden Nash and his Classical Poetry. He is compared with the Bard hmself in my book. Not Lee The Bard, the one from Avon. A common denominator------the Yankees. Michael hated the Dodgers and Yankees I hated the Giants (not a lot) and Yankees. The Rebs hated the carpetbaggers and the Yankees. It is a foregone conclusion ---everyone hates the Yankees.
